Paralegal - Irvine Law Firm 

GENERAL FUNCTIONS:

Performs a variety of paralegal/case manager duties for attorney(s). Maintains positive contact

with clients, attorneys and fellow staff. Observes confidentiality of client matters

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Must be able to perform essential functions unassisted or with reasonable accommodation made

by the Firm.

 

Ability to operate a computer and telephone as well as copy, fax and scanning

equipment. Utilize various software programs, including but not limited to,

Microsoft Office 365, Word 2016, Outlook 2016, Excel 2016, NetDocuments

document management software, CompuLaw calendaring software, Eclipse ediscovery

software and Surepoint LMS time & billing software.

 

Ability to liaison with case-assigned attorneys and manage day-to-day workflow of

client case activity, including but not limited to, client interaction, download case

related materials from client on-line database to an internal repository, track

upcoming due dates, and other as-needed tasks.

 

Ability to organize/prepare/track materials for document productions,

prepare/serve/track deposition and document subpoenas, cite check briefs and

prepare the necessary materials for trial.

 

Ability to calendar pretrial, trial and appellate deadlines using the Firm’ s

calendaring software (Compulaw).

 

Ability to occasionally work more than 8.0 hours per day or 40.0 hours per week to

perform the essential duties of the position; ability to accommodate irregular hours.

 

Ability to organize and prioritize numerous tasks and complete them under time

constraints.

 

Knowledge of legal rules, principles and practices necessary to complete and handle

legal documents.

 

Ability to use interpersonal skills necessary in order to communicate in person,

electronically and by telephone, and to follow instructions effectively from a diverse

group of clients, attorneys or paralegals and staff, and to use courtesy and good

judgment.

 

Ability to concentrate, pay close attention to detail, and work with a high level of

mental effort under time constraints to produce a volume of information and to

perform other essential duties.

 

Ability to work independently and perform essential functions unassisted.

 

Knowledge of, and continuing education in, a diverse number of computer software

programs, office equipment, as well as high level of English usage, grammar and

written communication skills.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

We are interested in meeting with candidates who are experienced litigation paralegals

as well as those who are new to the paralegal profession. Review below the qualifications for

each category of candidate:

 

Experienced Litigation Paralegals:

Must have at least 6+ years of solid current law firm experience with stable

employment history.

Be in possession of a Paralegal certificate from an accredited paralegal program, and

must be in compliance with current California MCLE credit hours requirements.

Must be well-versed in the litigation process.

Strong technical skills such as using Microsoft Office 2007 or higher, Outlook and

Excel, with aptitude to learn document management software and calendaring

software. Database and e-discovery litigation support software experience is a plus.

Labor & Employment and/or Business litigation experience is ideal but not required.

 

New Paralegals

Must have stable employment history.

Be in possession of a Paralegal certificate from an accredited paralegal program, and

must be in compliance with current California MCLE credit hours requirements.
