General Purpose/Job Summary

The NetAdmin position is responsible for utilization of specific monitoring tools to review, track, and resolve escalated issues for the Matrix Technical Assistance Center (MTAC). All systems impacting (revenue and/or customers experience) events will be tracked and reviewed by this position. The NetAdmin will utilize enterprise incident and problem management tools to review, document, escalate and follow up on issues while adhering to defined processes. This role will focus on the proactive processes that will ensure the highest level of system uptime while maximizing system performance. Additionally, the NetAdmin is responsible for building client relationships that allow for in-depth understanding of our Clients’ business objectives and work to align their technology needs with those objectives.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities

  • Resolve complex technical issues, including advanced research on issues and resolutions

  • Ensure maximum possible service availability and performance for Managed Services Clients

    • Manage and maintain the health and uptime if clients’ workstations, servers, routers, switches, firewalls and related operating systems and applications

    • Coordinate and implement network, software and hardware upgrades

    • Coordinate and implement systems patches and upgrades

    • Configure, Optimize and fine-tune systems for optimal performance

    • Respond to Alerts generated by remote monitoring tools

    • Resolve any problems generated by alerts, or escalated service issues

  • Research and Apply Best Practices within the area of expertise

    • Proactively work to refine documentation of clients’ systems/network

    • Proactively work to refine troubleshooting guides

    • Proactively create scripts (written steps or automation) to automate repetitive network management functions

    • Be a mentor to the Help Desk and Field Support team within their areas of expertise

  • Provide Level II and III support for clients, help desk and field support team.

  • Make recommendations for optimizing the clients’ environment, helping the client succeed.

    • Perform assessments on clients’ environment

  • Be part of on-call rotation schedule

  • Manage client onboarding tasks

Competencies/Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Demonstrated knowledge in the support of servers, workstations, and related components

  • Core understanding of networking (IP, WINS, DHCP, DNS, etc.)

  • Detailed knowledge and experience with the following:

    • MS-Windows

    • MS-Active Directory

    • MS-Windows Server

    • MS-Windows Terminal Server

  • Detailed knowledge and experience with preferably one or more of the following:

    • MS-Office 365, Azure

    • Cisco/Meraki Routing/Switching

    • VMware/Hyper-V

    • HP Storage

  • Detailed knowledge and experience with preferably one or more of the following:

    • Cisco Managed Switches

    • Cisco Firewalls and Routers

    • Cisco, HP, Aruba Wireless

  • Knowledge within the specified field or practice

  • Strong troubleshooting skills

  • A powerful analytical and structured approach to problem solving

  • The ability to analyze clients’ environment and make recommendations

  • Strong verbal, written, analytical, interpersonal and influencing skills

  • Exceptional organizational and control skills

  • Ability to work under pressure with deadlines Excellent planning, organizational, leadership and mentoring skills

Required Education, Training, and/or Experience

  • Degree in an IT related field or

  • Product or Industry certification within the field of expertise

    • Cisco CCNA/CCNP

    • CompTIA A+/Network+

    • Microsoft MCP/MCSA/MCSE

    • VMware VCP

Preferred Education, Training, and/or Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Information Technology

  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience with virtualization technologies

  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience with data center server and storage solutions
