Job Description

Masten Space Systems is enabling sustainable access and utilization of the Moon, Mars, and beyond. The Quality Assurance Systems Engineer will be an integral part of the Masten Mission 1 team, focused on ensuring the quality during spacecraft Assembly, Integration and Testing (AIT),

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Help develop and improve Masten's Quality Management System (QMS) and associated process and procedures for the spacecraft quality management
  • Overseeing Assembly, Integration and Testing (AIT) of the subsystems and full spacecraft to ensure quality
  • Ensure workmanship and quality of technician and engineers work
  • Train engineers and technicians on the QMS and best practices
  • Maintain and review nonconformance logs and mitigation plans
  • Cooperate and communicate effectively with team members
  • Root cause and resolution of spacecraft issues found during testing
  • Work across systems teams to drive the verification and validation of all spacecraft features and functions

Professional Requirements:

  • A keen eye for detail and thoroughness in quality practices
  • A good understanding of applicable standards (J-STD, AS9001)
  • Bachelors degree in systems engineering or similar STEM discipline
  • 5+ years of combined work experience as a QA and/or Systems engineer
  • Experience with ensuring high-quality work in a face-paced environment (preferably a New Space environment)
  • Experience with analysis and root cause identification
  • Experience with calibration of inspection equipment

Additional and/or Nice to have skills:

  • Knowledge of Agile methodology
  • Experience with quality software practices and review
