Human Resources Director (Contract to Hire)

As an organization focused on the delivery of digital learning experiences and education technology solutions that meet market and client needs, we're searching for an experienced HR Director to join our team in Naples, FL.

Working with executive leadership and reporting directly to the CEO, the Human Resources Director, will be responsible for all HR-related duties and projects. This position is responsible for administering and implementing a wide variety of human resources functions, including but not limited to: recruiting and hiring, benefits and compensation, employee engagement, outsourced HR vendor management and eventual HRIS administration, FMLA/medical leave, workers’ compensation, performance management, and employee training and development. This position serves as the first point of contact for all general HR related questions and is responsible for providing superior service to MassiveU team members.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Full Cycle Recruiting: Job posting, Interviews, NDA, non-compete, negotiations and offers.
  • Administer background checks in accordance with Federal and State guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate job descriptions.
  • Ensure DOL classification compliance; exempt, non-exempt, and contractor classifications, specifically.
  • Own the I-9 verification process, insuring regulatory compliance.
  • Onboard new employees, and contractors.
  • Act as outsourced HR / Payroll Vendor Manager and eventual HRIS administrator, upon successful transition.
  • Process payroll and contractor compensation, including accurate deductions, garnishments and reimbursements as necessary.
  • Ensure fringe benefit tax compliance, and expense reimbursement according to tax laws and internal policies.
  • Oversee quarterly payroll tax filings, both state and federal.
  • Design a benefits package that is cost effective, yet supports the needs of the employees.
  • Explore and possibly institute a retirement solution.
  • Hold fiduciary responsibilities for all benefits, both financial and medical (5500 filings).
  • Perform monthly vendor reconciliations to ensure employees have been added or removed from plans.
  • Accurately track deductions, and employer contributions for ACA reporting through outsourced vendor and eventual in house HRIS
  • Conduct open enrollment, and guarantee ERISA specific mandates such as SPDs, qualifying event changes, and the timely distribution of required notices.
  • Serve as the depth of knowledge in benefits plans, and how to deliver benefits support to all employees.
  • Administer COBRA.
  • Develop engagement initiatives and employee recognition programs.
  • Administer annual engagement surveys, and 360 reviews.
  • Champion training and development initiatives.
  • Develop a comprehensive and compliant employee handbook.
  • Create a culture of inclusion.
  • Champion and document the Performance Appraisal process, offering digital solutions and HR best practice approach.
  • Conduct internal investigation and make appropriate recommendations as needed.
  • Conduct exit interviews.
  • Respond to unemployment claims in a timely manner, and appear at required hearings.
  • Liaise to third party auditors: Worker’s Comp, 401k, and DOL.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance to include but not limited to, HIPPA, FMLA, ACA, AADA, ADA, OSHA, FLSA, Title VII and all state specific laws as they pertain to recruiting, hiring, employment, benefits.
  • Ability to inform and influence top management in HR related matters using knowledge of current regulatory requirements and HR best practices.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5+ years of relevant professional HR experience in multiple states including CA.
  • Experience working with payroll, taxes, budgets, and forecasting.
  • Experience with benefits design.
  • Demonstrated experience with financial accuracy and depth of knowledge in federal and state employment taxes, and withholding requirements.
  • Action oriented and able to juggle multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic, and cross-functional environment.
  • Experience with Employee relations and internal investigations.
  • Entrepreneurial Spirit.
  • Ability to inform and influence top management in HR related matters using knowledge of current regulatory requirements and HR best practices.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Professional HR certification, preferred.
  • Bachelors required; Masters in HR or Business related field a plus. Must be authorized to work in the US.
