Position Overview: Functionally reporting Head of Infrastructure IT and administratively reporting to the Sr. Manager of IT, the position is responsible for providing end user support for desktop applications, system networks and related infrastructure. The position manages desktop and network hardware to support site operations to ensure business operability and continuity. Responsibilities are as follows:

Desktop Systems and Business Technology Management:

  • Sets up new employees software and hardware as part of employee on-boarding and fills employee technology needs
  • Trouble-shoots problems and provides services for all IT related issues (hardware, network, phones, tablets, communication devices, computers, conferencing equipment, etc.) to keep workers productive
  • Provides end user support to Bethlehem applications and coordinates with IT support teams for such items as: O365, Salesforce.Com, Complaint Management and other applications in support of functional departments
  • Establishes and maintains hardware and application support resources for remote sites in UK, Italy and other offices as well as coordinate support with Corporate IT teams
  • Ensures all tickets are logged in Helpdesk system and manages offshore helpdesk team for L1, L2 support for users

Network and Infrastructure Management

  • Partners with Head of IT Infrastructure to develop technology infrastructure strategy for US site and manages changes over lifecycle
  • Administers, manages and troubleshoots the daily performance of the Bethlehem Site computer systems, locally hosted applications, and network
  • Executes on approved infrastructure strategies and provides IT support to site projects that require IT technology (i.e. building, plant or warehouse capability expansion)
  • Performs coordination with Corporate IT for centrally hosted applications, central IT infrastructure, and other needs as required
  • Develops disaster recovery and redundancy options and adhere to corporate policies

Asset and Expense Management

  • Performs Asset Management by maintaining an inventory of computer hardware /communication devices, manages aged inventory, and procures replacement items
  • Conducts vendor evaluations. Establishes and manage vendor contracts for site support needs for computer, tele-communication, network and other services and devices
  • Manages to site IT budget by managing vendor contracts, negotiating services, purchasing devices, and monitoring and managing IT spend

Other duties:

  • Ensures proper Cyber Security and Data Security management measures are in place to support proper use of equipment and networks
  • Ensures computer systems are complaint for regulatory and license requirements
  • Participates in project teams to support new technologies and enhancements of existing applications
  • Leads system audits, security assessments and other Infrastructure review activities
  • Oversees and determines timeframes for system updates, upgrades, migrations and outages
  • Identifies and acts on opportunities to improve and update software and systems
  • Develops and implements IT policy and best practice guides for site
  • Prepares and presents MIS reports and performance KPIs for Helpdesk, Project performance, and other key KPIs for areas of responsibility
  • Act as a back-up for plant specific operating networks and servers
  • Other duties as assigned

Education and Experience Required:

  • BS degree in business, computer science or related field or equivalent technical training and experience
  • 8 years of experience as an IT Manager supporting Network, Server, Hardware Systems
  • Prior experience with networking protocols required - LANs, WANs, routing, switching
  • Basic Knowledge of ERP software application SAP, LIMS
  • Prior experience in a GMP environment highly preferred (Manufacturing, Pharma, etc)
  • Experienced with Virtualization, RDBMS, and Backups
