Position Summary:
Martin's Point maintains a data warehouse containing data from all aspects of its' operations. Utilizing various data manipulation tools as well as an enterprise business intelligence platform the Informatics Department provides business intelligence and analytic services to Martin's Point. Informatics develops structures to store data as an asset beginning with the Data Architecture team and supplies that data, through the delivery of reports, analyses and consultation by the BI Reporting team.
Informatics supplies analysis and reports to all departments at Martins' Point from the executive level to the management team as well as frontline staff, all with the goal of improving performance throughout the organization.
A member of the BI Architecture team, the Senior BI Data Architect s responsible for the architecture, design, development, and maintenance of the data warehouse; data marts, staging and archival databases through the life cycle: from business requirements to development of logical design, translation to physical design, ETL architecture and code development, and on through implementation and maintenance. This position reports to the Manager, BI Architecture.
Key Outcomes:
+ Architects, designs and develops enterprise data warehouse, data mart, operational and other miscellaneous components required for BI applications using stored procedures, functions, views, and other ETL Tools as appropriate.
+ Assists BI development team in the design of database solutions. Work with business owners and business users to understand and translate user requirements into practical data models
+ Reviews database architectures and designs to ensure data integrity and quality, performance, management, scalability, etc.
+ Designs, develops and implements conceptual data models for BI solutions
+ Validates ETL processes by developing and executing test plans and scenarios to ensure viability of code prior to implementation in production
+ Designs, develops and deploys back-end systems to support operational and analytical reporting
+ Creates and maintain documentation of processes, reports, applications, and procedures
+ Maintains the data warehouse metadata repository
+ Supports the data warehouse loads and other processes in conjunction with other members of the architecture team.
+ Optimizes programmed code for best possible speed and performance
+ Maintains all data warehouse and other processes and respond to critical data warehouse issues during off hours
+ Makes and maintains recommendations for architecture solutions that support business and technical requirements and that provide for scalability and availability of data and resources.
+ Establishes best practices for BI solutions and ensures that they are being effectively applied
+ Works as technical lead for cross-departmental, multi-platform database development projects
+ Leads development teams in the design of database solutions. Work with business owners and business users to understand and translate user requirements into practical data models
Education/Experience:
Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, management systems or related discipline
Four years of experience in data warehousing, including extensive experience working with ETL processes, OLAP structures, SQL coding and dimensional modeling
Four years of experience in health care industry, from payer or provider perspective
Experience with SSIS or other ETL tools such as Informatica
Experience with data modeling and metadata concepts
At least four years of experience writing T-SQL code and procedures
