Summary:

We are seeking a Cement Procurement Manager to support operations and oversee procurement related activities at one of Martin Marietta’s cement plants.  Reporting to the Senior Manager, Procurement, this position will collaborate with the warehouse, maintenance, and site leadership, and will be responsible for a variety of procurement and supply chain related activities including:

   

 

Responsibilities:

  • Manage procurement activities and vendor performance with a focus on safety, quality, delivery and cost
  • Take a “hands-on” and proactive approach to collaborate with Operations, Category Managers, and other cross-functional stakeholders to ensure effective working relationships and successful outcomes
  • Participate in key operations, supplier and company meetings
  • Lead spend analyses and identify, support and implement improvement opportunities, including:
    • Supplier identification/ selection/ consolidation
    • Negotiating favorable contract terms (price, quality, service and availability)
    • Strategically sourcing regional categories
    • Supporting national category management initiatives
  • Create and perform formal RFXs for large projects and spend categories to deliver the lowest TCO
  • Manage and/ or assist with purchase requests, quotes, bids and proposals.  Review and approve POs
  • Identify new suppliers and prequalify them to ensure ongoing supplier compliance to company requirements
  • Drive progress with respect to contract usage, eProcurement adoption, Procurement channel compliance, Avetta compliance, supplier spend consolidation and savings targets
  • Provide professional procurement and supply chain related training/ advice to all levels of Cement management
  • Perform all activities in accordance with the Company’s Mission, Vision and Values, and in compliance with the Company’s policies, procedures and Code of Ethical Business Conduct

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Supply Chain, or equivalent field experience
  • 5-7 years of procurement experience (cement, aggregates, manufacturing, or similar experience preferred)
  • Experience sourcing, negotiating, and procuring equipment, materials and services
  • Familiarity working with supplier contracts and compliance
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work effectively in a diverse, cross-functional team environment
  • Demonstrated ability to handle and prioritize multiple initiatives
  • High level of proficiency with software and systems (e.g. ERP, Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Tableau)
