The Medication History Specialist (MHS) improves medication safety for patients by assisting the pharmacist to compile up to date medication lists for patients being admitted to the hospital. Well rounded knowledge of medications is required with the ability to utilize drug information databases to obtain the necessary medication information. The MHS must possess excellent communication skills and problem solving abilities. The ability to handle multiple assignments simultaneously and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team are essential.

Requires 3 years of pharmacy tech experience or 5 years of Certified Medical Assistant work experience or 5 years of Certified Nursing Assistant work experience.
Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program or Pharmacy Technician Program, or currently enrolled, and Motivational Interviewing techniques and Retail Pharmacy experience are preferred.
