 Position Summary:

Ability to troubleshoot various advanced pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical and mechanical systems at the component level on all process and packaging equipment with minimal guidance. Properly maintain and repair equipment in a fast paced, high production work environment, while prioritizing multiple mechanical, electrical and administrative tasks on a consistent basis.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Capable of troubleshooting, repairing and overhauling equipment within close tolerances.
  • Perform routine electrical and mechanical problem-solving on process & packaging equipment.
  • Perform preventative maintenance (PM's) on process & packaging equipment with minimal guidance.
  • Support Operations in equipment setup, changeover and training of operators in autonomous maintenance (AM) activities.
  • Document work orders (WO)/preventative maintenance (PM's) using computerized maintenance management system (SAP-PPM Plant Maintenance).      
  • Effectively communicate with machine operators, peers, supervisors and all levels of management on a daily basis.
  • Provide enthusiastic support where needed and complete other duties as assigned by Team Leader.
  • Demonstrate engagement in Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) Theory and Concepts through participation in Pillar Teams, training fellow Mechanics/Operators in autonomous (AM) activities and conducting Breakdown Analysis.
  • Understand and adhere to Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO) procedures, confined space procedures and all other plant safety/good manufacturing practices (GMP) requirements related to supporting machinery uptime. Troubleshoot, adjust and initiate repairs to equipment in all production areas.
  • High sense of urgency, accountability
  • Inspect and monitor the condition of equipment
  • Identify and follow up on improvement opportunities
  • Enter planned work orders into the SAP / Net Weaver systems
  • Complete PM and / or Planned Work Orders during scheduled hours
  • Monitor & inspect the condition of equipment in Process areas and packaging equipment.
  • Provide maintenance assistance during routine shut-downs
  • Be an integral team player  & leader in continuous improvement projects where appropriate
  • Oversee equipment & system check out, troubleshooting, & technical support as required to ensure timely & efficient startups
  • Ensure safety standards are met follow all appropriate factory GMP, food safety, safety & quality policies
  • Monitor operating conditions, meters & gauges during normal operating conditions
  • Ability to analyze conditions of: troubleshooting failures, repair & preform preventative/predictive maintenance on facilities and utilities equipment

 Education/Training:
Minimum: 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Technical degree/machinist certification or 4-6 years equivalent work experience required.

 Preferred: 

  • Associate's degree in a technical discipline, preferably in Industrial Maintenance/Technology.

 Related Experience/Requirements:
Minimum: 

  • Three (3) years equivalent work experience required or a machinist/technical degree.
  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical components including motor starters, switches and sensors found on all assigned equipment using basic test equipment such as multi-meters and amp probes.
  • Ability to troubleshoot basic pneumatic and mechanical drive systems at the component level on all assigned equipment; i.e. sorting systems and palletizing robots.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule as needed to support production needs and to conduct multi-task work in a very fast paced work environment

 Preferred:

Technical certifications and five (5) years equivalent work experience.

 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: 
Minimum:

  • Possess a fundamental understanding of electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic schematics and mechanical drawings in order to solve problems in a timely manner.
  • Willingness to develop required technical skills in welding, basic machinist and fabrication/layout skill sets.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule as needed in support of in-week and/or week-end production and maintenance requirements.

 Preferred:

  • Possess an advanced understanding of electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic schematics and mechanical drawings in order to solve problems in a timely manner.
  • Technical certification in: welding, advanced machinist skills and fabrication/ layout skill sets.

 Physical Requirements:

  • Frequent lifting/carrying (10-50 lbs.).
  • Frequent pushing/pulling (50-200 lbs.).
  • Ability to work at elevated heights off a ladder or platform, climb stairs, leaning over equipment.
  • Ability to stand and / or work on feet for extended periods (minimum 8 or 12 hours in one shift).
  • Physical strength and proficiency with the use of hand and power tools.
