Works with a team of I/O professionals to conduct critical research and analytics projects along with designing and performing project and learning evaluation studies. Employs advanced, large-scale data management techniques and advanced multi-variate statistics, statistical modeling, text-mining, deep learning, and machine learning to support research programs. Provides consulting services to internal clients, working to understand client needs and deliver solutions. Manages several large-scale data sets and databases, designs research studies to address critical business questions, conducts descriptive and inferential analysis to address critical business questions, generates custom reports as requested by the business, and prepares reports and presentations to communicate key findings to non-technical audiences. Works to resolve technical issues, learn new quantitative methods, and solve problems. Performs business as usual (BAU) processing in support of research initiatives by processing large data files and preparing key internal reports. Provides thought leadership in the areas of data management, statistical modeling, organizational research design as well as analytics for projects and programs falling under the team's responsibility. The scope of this work crosses all Marriott brands and locations in over 100 countries around the globe.
Education and Experience
PhD degree in Industrial/Organizational Psychology or related field with an emphasis on field research design, data modeling, and analytics.
Interests in research design, quantitative methodology, psychometrics, machine learning, and advanced data modeling.
Experience with large-scale data sets, machine learning, text mining, and time series analyses.
Advanced R and SPSS programing skills. Python, Power BI and Power Query skills a plus.
CORE WORK ACTIVITIES
Research Design and Analysis
Consult with and manage internal business partners to design research paradigms that address specific business questions, with a strong focus on using field research methods.
Identify additional opportunities for analysis beyond stated project goals and summarize and present results in a way that is understandable and impactful for business audiences.
Manage large-scale data sets for system integration and statistical analysis using R. When needed, use SPSS, Python, Power Query, and/or Excel to manage and analyze data.
Apply methods of multivariate statistics and advanced techniques (e.g., multiple regression, structural equation modeling, machine learning, time series) to address business questions.
Apply advanced techniques such as time series data modeling, machine learning, deep learning, and text mining to understand data in support of research projects.
Supporting Talent Management Programs and Systems
Evaluate and quantify the effectiveness of talent management programs and systems, support ongoing development (e.g., assessments, Human Capital Analytics (HCA), learning) and provide thought leadership, communication support, and training for HCA.
Perform business as usual processing (BAU) in support of research initiatives by processing large data files, managing data in the Human Capital Analytics (HCA) tool, and preparing key internal reports.
Develop and validate workforce intelligence metrics (e.g., turnover percentages, promotion rates, and human performance and productivity measures).
Audit existing data structures and develop enhanced processes to improve those structures.

Work autonomously to develop study proposals.
Seek out new analytic methods as appropriate to address study needs.
Use advanced problem solving skills to resolve issues and challenges when working with data or performing analytics.
