Job Description

The Nevada Department of Agriculture (NDA) is seeking a motivated and passionate Program Educator to join our team and help develop and implement a State Meat and Poultry Inspection Program. The ideal candidate will be responsible for planning and coordinating program-based educational programs, while also working as an inspector trainee.

This full-time contract position offers the possibility of working remotely and a competitive salary of $22.83 per hour as a contract employee. As a Program Educator, you will work closely with the Project Manager to plan and design educational material, research and define educational goals, and determine formats and approaches needed to achieve program objectives.

You will also work with industry professionals on inspection readiness, environmental plans, and safety plans to maintain the State Meat and Poultry Inspection Program at a high standard of excellence, in line with the inspection program conducted by the United States Department of Agriculture, Food Safety Inspection Service (USDA FSIS).

The successful candidate will possess strong communication, program planning, and implementation skills, and be able to organize resources and establish priorities. Additionally, you will have advanced writing and editorial skills and be able to travel statewide to monitor and coordinate meat and poultry inspection operations at state-inspected establishments.

To be considered for this position, you must have a Bachelor’s degree in agricultural science or related field, and one year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. A valid Nevada driver’s license is also required.
