Job Description

Job Description:

The CAD/CAM Programmer will review drawings and create the CAM programs using AutoCAD, Solidworks, and Master Cam. In addition, the CAD/CAM Programmer will verify that machining programs match drawings and will support our Project Management.

Essential Job Functions:

Review CAD drawings for components and sub-assemblies.

Create individual components drawings in AutoCAD and Solidworks.

Draw dimensions in AutoCAD/Solidworks and verify dimensions to match original blueprints.

Verify drawings created in AutoCAD/Solidworks with Project Management prior to machining.

Select the correct post-processor program to code which machine will be used.

Create CNC machine program in Master Cam (CAM).

Select correct drawing file from drawing library for component to be programmed.

Select tools, drills, endmill, reamers, and face mills that will shape the component.

Create the tool path to program machine movement.

Program machine speeds and feeds.

Monitor machining outcomes on the floor.

Verifying dimensions, nesting, and resolving material conflicts.

Re-issuing programs if necessary.


Associate degree (Engineering or Drafting) is required to perform the duties, or 3 years of CNC programming with Master Cam.

Minimum of at least 3 years of CNC programming using Master Cam.

Advanced knowledge AutoCAD Mechanical including flat developments, intersections, and 3D drafting techniques.

Intermediate knowledge of Solidworks.

A minimum of 3 years’ experience in print reading and drawing interpretation.

Knowledge of machining practices (CNC machines, burn table operation, CNC programming)

Preferred Qualifications:

Advanced knowledge and certification in Solidworks.

Experience in a welding or manufacturing environment preferred.
