Maintenance Technician

Job Summary:
Performs routine repairs and maintenance of plant and/or office facilities and equipment. Performs basic carpentry, electrical, mechanical, air-conditioning, plumbing, and plastic or sheet metal fabrication, or associated work on plant facilities using hand and power tools. May be required to troubleshoot equipment or facilities problems and reports them to supervisor. May interpret blueprints, sketches, layouts, wiring diagrams, drawings, and specifications. May perform routine inspections to determine repair and maintenance work necessary. Normally top-level jobs requiring considerable knowledge of the job. Complete acquaintance with and understanding of the general aspects and technical phases of the job and their practical applications to problems and situations ordinarily encountered. Limited supervision. No instructions are needed on routine work, and only general instructions are given on new lines of work or special assignments. Independently performs non-routine and moderately complex assignments. Research assignments, processes, and analyzes data and may develop recommendations. Competently uses computers and other systems to access, maintain, and manipulate data. May provide leadership, direction to lower-level employees. In technical or production positions, may determine methods, operations, sequences; develops and/or modifies products and equipment to requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Use of basic carpentry skills; including but not limited to framing, drywall, tape/mud finishing, texture, painting etc. Basic knowledge of frame/door/closure/hardware installation.
Perform office moves, furniture moves and reconfigure, cubicle set up, move and reconfigure
CMMS/FAMeS/LM Buildings work orders system(s).
Assist in repair and adjust equipment as required in order to return equipment to proper operating condition
Interface with other contractors and other departments with whom they must work or share joint responsibilities to assure a proper working business atmosphere is maintained at all times.
Document all events such as leaks, mechanical or electrical failures, tenant complaints, accidents, vendors and contractors entering or leaving the building.
Document all anomalies, significant weather disturbances, frozen pipes, glass breaks, door closure concerns, roof leaks, etc.
Snow removal activities.
Qualifications:
Education
(HS Diploma, Under/Graduate Degree, etc.)
High School diploma, Vocational School a plus
Business Experience
(prior years work/related experience)
Minimum 3 years prior experience
Licenses/Certifications
LM DOT driver, DoD Security clearance (or eligible to obtain)
Language Skills
English
Technical Qualifications & Skills
Moderate carpentry skills, Systems Furniture experience
Moderate carpentry skills a plus
Facilities maintenance a plus
Computer skills and CMMS experience
Read and interpret blueprint/drawings a plus
Knowledge of hand tools and wood working tools
Applicant will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified areas
