Job Summary

Maitri is hiring an Integrated Pest Management (IPM) and Quality Control (QC) Specialist for our grower-processor facility located in Pittsburgh, PA. The IPM and QC Specialist will be responsible for managing pest and pathogen control and mitigation throughout all cultivation and harvest growing areas. This position is classified as exempt and reports to the Director of Cultivation.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

Required

• Extensive experience with integrated pest management
• Ability to be flexible and work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
• Capable of multi-tasking with minimal supervision
• High additional to detail and personal and professional accountability
• Excellent communicator with a willingness to instruct and develop others
• Must be able to operate in a highly regulated environment
• Willing to work a flexible schedule including evenings/weekends/some holidays
• Comfortable working under constant video surveillance
• Must be 18 years or older
• Must be able to pass a criminal background check
• Able to stand for long periods of time
• Ability to work on scaffolding and ladders and in tight spaces

Strongly Preferred

• Entomology degree and/or integrated pest management degree or certification
• Extensive experience with integrated pest management at scale
• Pennsylvania Pest Applicators License for agriculture
• Horticulture and/or cannabis cultivation experience, an asset
• Experience in a regulated and highly compliance-driven environment is desired (i.e. food industry, pharmaceutical)

Role and Responsibilities

General IPM and QC Responsibilities

• Manages the pest control and beneficial insect program
• Maintains and oversees inventory of pest control products and beneficial insect populations
• Assess plant population health ad recommends treatments of pests and pathogens
• Mixes and applies all forms of pest control products (wettable powders, emulsified concentrates, etc.)
• Develops and maintains schedule and logs of insect activity, pest control and pathogen presence and remediation efforts
• Identifies pests and pathogens and delivers recommendations for treatment
• Manages and reports on plant health, soil moisture and environmental metrics
• Leads scouting facility for any biological threat or conducive condition for biological pests and pathogens
• Executing on direction from the Director of Cultivation

Compliance and Safety

• Maintaining compliance standards
• Following cultivation related Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)

Other Responsibilities

• Maintaining a clean working environment
• Aiding in the harvest as needed
