Job Description
Magnolia Community Services is a multi-service nonprofit providing support for adults with developmental disabilities as they pursue their best life. We are seeking a Controller to join our team. We are looking for a well-organized individual that is a self-starter. Full Time Position Responsibilities include but are not limited to : Supports Magnolia’s Mission and Vision and exemplifies our Core Values on a daily basis. Maintains and Establishes accounting practices and internal controls as needed Supervises the accounting staff Directs budget and cost controls Analyzes and interprets financial data and recommends changes to improve systems and financial performance Oversees accounting, budget and audit activities Supervises payroll functions and serves as support Ensures timely financial and statistical reports for management and/or Board use Presentation of financials to Board Reviews monthly closing Oversees the keeping of fixed assets records through the Asset Keeper program Oversees records of insurance transactions Monitors due dates of premiums and expiration dates of policies Notifies insurance companies of changes in property or equipment affecting insurance coverage Assist with the processing of Insurance Claims Reconciles Investments on a monthly basis Works with auditors to construct Medicaid Cost Reports on a yearly basis Assists Auditors, Agents, etc. when necessary Reviews and implements contract services as needed Reviews and implements software updates as needed Assists in special projects as necessary Distributes special projects to accounting staff when needed Performs the duties of members of the accounting staff when needed Oversight of the Human Resources Department Maintains monthly detail reports for other departments Assist with the financial reporting for Whitehall rentals Assist with any financial needs of varies associations related to Magnolia Monitors all areas of Magnolia related to Internal, Federal, State, and GAAP regulations Addresses information technology issues and fills needs when able (Share this task with accounting co-workers) Liaison between employees’ workstations and outsourced technology consultant (Share this task with accounting co-workers) Qualifications: BS in Accounting or equivalent experience Not-for Profit industry experience or Public Accounting experience Sage 100 experience Key Competencies: Attention to detail and accuracy Planning and organizing Strategic thinking Strong communication skills Information and task monitoring Problem identification and analysis Judgment and problem-solving Supervisory skills Teamwork Stress tolerance Employment Type: Full Time Bonus/Commission: No
