We are looking for a Farm Manager to manage the day to day activities of a large scale, outdoor commercial cannabis grow operation and work directly with the Owner and Director, Farm Operations on a daily basis.
Must be a current Colorado resident and able to obtain a Key Occupational License through the Colorado Marijuana Enforcement Division.
As Farm Manager you will:
- Direct and oversee worker activities across all functions to include planting, cultivating, irrigation, harvesting, product manufacturing and production and record keeping
- Monitor activities such as irrigation, chemical application, breeding, etc. to ensure adherence to compliance and safety regulations or standards
- Analyze soil to determine types or quantities of fertilizer required for maximum crop production
- Plan and direct development or production of hardier or higher-yield plants
- Work with Marketing to analyze market conditions to determine strains and production rates
- Plan crop activities based on factors such as crop maturity or weather conditions
- Inspect crops and prepare reports and pre-harvest estimates for all crops
- Inspect crops for Insect detection; demonstrate identification techniques
- Select or purchase machinery, equipment, or supplies, such as seed, feed, fertilizer, or chemicals
- Inspect farm equipment to ensure proper functioning
- Purchase all necessary machinery, equipment, and supplies
- Record information such as: production, farm management practices, and parent stock, and prepare financial and operational reports
- Maintain financial, operational, production and employment records for farm
- Hire, train and supervise works engaged in planting, cultivating, irrigating, harvesting and production
- Enforce Compliance and Safety regulations and policies are adhered to daily
Skills that our ideal candidate should have:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Management, Horticulture, Botany, Agronomy, Plant Science or related field
- 10 years’ experience growing in a large-scale commercial, production environment
- 4 years’ experience legally growing cannabis, highly desired
- Five (5) to seven (7) years of Management experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Three (3) to five (5) years of farm or agricultural experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Previous experience managing teams of 20+
- Knowledge of techniques and equipment for planting, growing, and harvesting products for consumption, including storage/handling techniques
- Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods
- Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
- Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation and production methods
- Ability to monitor, oversee and control company resources to include coordination of people and resources
- Ability to plan and organize specific objectives and prioritize
- Ability to store, record and maintain information in electronic and written form
- Ability to analyze data and problem solve efficiently
- Ability to inspect equipment, materials and machinery
- Ability to anticipate problems, troubleshoot and problem solve
