Job Description

Registered Nurse (Contract) Summary

MORC, Inc. is looking to contract with a Registered Nurse to provide quality person centered care considering age specific, developmental, cultural and spiritual needs through competent clinical practice and application of nursing process. The RN works as a resource and liaison with community health resources and other medical professionals to ensure optimum health and safety of each individual served. This position is responsible for addressing the health care under established state, federal and local laws, standards and regulations. In addition, this position is responsible for educating and training individuals served, their families, and care providers on health related matters. The work is performed on a referral basis under a fee for services contract with the primary focus on monitoring and promoting the overall health of each individual, and provide accurate and detailed documentation.

Registered Nurse (Contract) Responsibilities

  • Provides and completes comprehensive nursing health assessments to assist in identifying and resolving clients health and safety concerns
  • Ensures medication is properly administered and monitor for effectiveness and any side effects/adverse reactions of medication
  • Provide frequent guidance, support, and recommendations
  • Adhere to standards of care/treatment plans according to a person centered approach
  • In cases of individuals with complex medical needs assist in developing community supports and contacting healthcare providers on their behalf
  • Provide periodic review concerning health care treatment
  • Monitor and evaluate medical charts, nursing care guidelines, health care plans, treatment and response as outlined in the Person Centered Plan (PCP)
  • Based upon the individual’s PCP, develop the scope, frequency, and duration of nursing services needed
  • Attend special consultations regarding individuals and their health care concerns per the PCP
  • May attend PCP meeting if requested by the individual or guardian
  • Adhere to state regulations regarding billable documentation and submit documentation in a timely manner for all billable nursing tasks performed
  • Provide training to staff members and individuals served related to specific health and/or safety issues or concepts
  • Provide nurse consultation regarding the health care needs of individuals served in the following manner: Interpret physician’s orders and coordinator care with other health care professionals such as physicians, care providers, schools, workshops, support team members, guardians, parents, hospitals and inpatient care programs as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Registered Nurse (Contract) Requirements

  • Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from a school approved by the State of Michigan Board of Nursing Educational program
  • Current Licensure by the State of Michigan as a Registered Nurse
  • Current Michigan Driver’s License
  • Certified in Emergency First Aid and Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • One year of experience working with the I/DD population preferred but not required
