General Description:

We are seeking a Configuration Manager to provide hands-on support to an Information Technology Program Management Office (PMO) at Maxwell AFB-Gunter Annex. This individual must have expertise in updating program Configuration Management Plans, tracking configuration items, and maintaining a program’s configuration item baseline. The ideal candidate will provide technical expertise for assessments, analyses, reviews, and evaluations. They will develop documentation pertaining to configuration and data management to include acquisition documentation (such as Request for Proposal (RFP) inputs); change control documentation; program specifications; results of the analysis of the program’s configuration management program; and evaluation of data /documentation deliveries for accuracy, completeness, and compliance. The successful candidate will be able to recommend solutions when information is inaccurate or non-compliant and will ensure configuration management is performed in accordance with the BES BPD and/or AF Systems Engineering Assessment Model (SEAM) processes. In addition, this individual must recommend tradeoffs to program cost, schedule and performance. Apply industry best practices to program guidance, planning, and solutions.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform configuration and data management including accepting CDRL deliverables from the development contractor, managing and tracking the comment and approval processes, maintaining the program baseline, and maintaining all program configuration files.
  • Perform analysis on existing program configuration management processes and procedures and make continuous improvement recommendations.
  • Evaluate development contractor deliverables for accuracy and completeness.
  • Actively participate in program Risk Management activities.

Specialized Knowledge:

  • Experience maintaining and implementing various management plans, including tracking risks and maintaining configuration baselines
  • Knowledge and expertise with configuration management (CM), change control, and data management DoD, AF, AFMC, and AFLCMC instructions, directives, regulations and guidance documents.
  • Experience with the AFLCMC BES BPD and/or AF Systems Engineering Assessment Model (SEAM) processes
  • Experience providing timely communication of needs/requirements disposition to PMO users. Ability to keep the users informed of the status of their needs/requirement requests and other activities via government-provided media, as necessary (websites, newsletters, etc.).


Bachelor’s Degree in a technical or related field and a minimum 10 years of experience. (Relevant DoD or technical experience may be substituted in lieu of degree requirement)

None required


Either currently hold or ability to acquire a U.S. Security Clearance.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent oral, written, and communication in English.
  • Must be able to work in a team environment with members that include personnel from other companies, Government program management and administrative personnel, and technical staff members.
  • This position may require travel of up to one week per quarter.

Working conditions, including location:

Onsite at Maxwell AFB – Gunter Annex

Client duty hours Monday through Friday.
