Quality Control Inspector

A Southern California based Structural Steel Fabricator is seeking a full-time employee with the ability to read and interpret structural steel blueprints and customer specifications. Knowledge of welding and fabrication is required, familiar to welding code, AWS D1.1 with AISC structural welding background helpful.

Self-perform quality control inspections of shop fabrication which includes fit-up, weld preparations and final welds. Identify NDE/NDT requirements on drawings and coordinate third party inspections with document control. Record and maintain in-process and final inspection records for quality assurance and production control. Inform foreman of defects on fabrication. Help and assist shop personnel with interpretation of drawings and specifications. Observe company safety policy while working.

May assist in non-conformance reporting of rework. Maintain quality records, verify completeness for scanning and filing for customer submittals.

Must be able to converse with key personnel in shop, management and customer relations. Coordinate work with production and client to identify and report required inspections. Must have structural steel quality control experience, be able to multi task and be a team player.

Minimum of 5 years in welding, Quality Control in a fabrication and welding environment. Commercial Structural Steel preferred.

Experience:

·         Quality Assurance: 5 years

·         CWI, Certified Welding Inspector

·         Knowledge in Weld Procedures: WPS, PQR, WPQ

·         NDT/NDE Methods

·         Blueprint reading

·         Computer Literate, Microsoft Office (word, excel)

·         Scanning and Filing Quality Records
