We are seeking strong candidates to take our written exam and interview to potentially be placed on our hiring list for future critical care flight paramedic positions. Any individuals offered a position would be required to work 12- and/or 24-hour shifts on a rotating basis, including days, nights, weekends and holidays.
Key Position Highlights:
- Provideshigh quality pre-hospital and inter-facility advanced critical care
- Cares for critically ill or injured patients within the scope of practice defined by the Flight For Life Medical Director and appropriate state regulations
- Practices independent and collaborative judgment, critical and analytical thinking, decision making, and prioritization using advanced assessment and intervention skills
- Utilizes leadership, collaboration and interpersonal skills to coordinate multidisciplinary teams to facilitate optimum patient care and outcomes
- Formulates a focused and specific plan of care appropriate for the patient's condition from initial contact until care is relinquished at the accepting medical facility
- Evaluates efficacy and outcome of medical interventions throughout treatment and transport process, with ongoing reassessment of patient responses
- Maintains thorough patient care documentation
- Maintains all applicable safety standards
- Maintains competency in knowledge and psychomotor skills by participating in ongoing clinical experiences, annual medical director review in human patient simulator lab, and monthly competencies
- Establishes and maintains excellent verbal and written communication with all patients and customers; e.g. physicians, nurses, paramedics, ancillary personnel, and other health care disciplines
- Demonstrates ability to work with a variety of people regardless of race, religion, age, sex, social or cultural backgrounds, or disease entities
- Maintains confidentiality of all patients and departmental-related information
- Attends four annual combined crew meetings and one safety day held in Waukesha, WI
- Commits to being an active member to two committees within the organization
- Completes other duties and requirements as assigned
Minimum Requirements:
- Current paramedic license in Wisconsin with Critical Care Endorsement
- Minimum of three years of experience working as a paramedic in a high volume, high acuity advanced life support environment
- Current certifications in BLS, ACLS, and PALS
- Ability to make critical clinical decisions and judgments independently, rapidly, and accurately in emergency situations
- Ability to adjust to frequent changes in patient condition and the transport environment, while maintaining safety
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in various weather conditions
- Successfully pass a screening written exam, pre-employment physical exam including drug screen and job-related physical agility test. Ability to perform lifting of patients, carrying of equipment, reaching, walking, pushing, standing, climbing and bending.
- Excellent organizational skills, flexibility in work assignments, and dependable
- NRP must be obtained in the first six months of employment.
- High-risk OB, and an advanced trauma course completion must be obtained within the first year of employment
- FP-C within two years of hire
- Maximum weight limit including full uniform is 225 pounds
- Compliance with all vaccination requirements
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous flight paramedic experience a bonus
- Current FP-C
- National Registry certification
- Instructor status for AHA or experience with public speaking
