VP of Operations

I am working with an organization in southern WI that is seeking a VP of Operations.

The VP of Operations is responsible for establishing goals, accomplishing objectives and managing day-to-day the operations of the company; leads and oversees the management of all areas of manufacturing (Distribution, Supply Chain, QC, Production and Maintenance) to build and develop operations that support the company’s long and short-range planning and strategic direction.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manages the day-to-day operations of manufacturing; including overseeing a team responsible for translating demand plans into production plans, coordinating suppliers, ensuring production, finished goods inventories and distribution.

  • Develop and deliver solutions to continuously improve quality, reduce manufacturing and operating costs, increase efficiencies, and improve overall operations

  • Establishes an off shore sourcing strategy that leverages spend, builds strategic relationships and minimizes the Company’s dollar spend

  • Oversees and directs project management processes and standards

  • Provide and apply a current understanding of industry best practices, supplier network capabilities and trends to team members.

  • Develop and execute a M&A strategy

  • Manage manufacturing relationships with key suppliers; maintaining organized records of agreements, vendors, and supplier performance and processes

  • Evaluate, improve and establish SOP’s and KPI’s that align with best practices.

  • Develop/utilize reporting tools that help drive management decisions, resolving potential roadblocks before they occur.

  • Ensure compliance with OSHA requirements, managing an environment of zero safety incidents; assuring the entire company embraces a culture of safety

  • Oversee budget, forecast and reconciliation activities. Provide input and support efforts to develop annual and strategic operating plans.

  • Participate in and drive corporate strategy/business planning.

  • Accountable for driving lean initiatives throughout the various operations to ensure they are fully embraced and implemented.

  • Drives a culture of accountability and results through strategy deployment and effective performance management.

  • Mentor and manage direct staff and oversee talent development initiatives.

  • Provide strategic and hands on tactical, daily leadership around production, distribution, & quality.

  • Develop and implement manufacturing strategy and identify areas for operational and process improvement.

  • Minimize cost of production through labor efficiency, continuous improvement projects and the application of technology in operations processes.

  • Provide accurate analysis and operations reviews and makes recommendations on key business decisions.

  • Work cross functionally with teams including sales, product development and finance team to coordinate activities to fund operations, drive cost savings and increase efficiency.

  • Establishes attainable deadlines with supervisor that must be met.

  • Performs other duties that may be assigned.


  • Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing related field, with at least 7 years of experience in manufacturing and supply chain environment

  • Ability to travel to support the global supply chain and company’s foreign subsidiary, based on business needs

  • Skilled at driving metrics, root cause analysis, corrective action, and accountability

  • Knowledge of lean and six sigma best practices. Lean Green Belt and/or Six Sigma certification recommended, but not required.

  • Highly competent in the ability to analyze problems and to develop sustainable solutions.

  • Effective cross functional collaborator capable of creating unity of purpose and action across multiple functions.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written) with the ability to effectively connect with all levels of the organization and external contacts.
