Position Title: Medical Laboratory Scientist/Medical Laboratory Technician

Shift: Full-time, Days/Evenings/Nights, WKNDS/Holidays

Location: Near Pittsburgh, PA

Performs routine and high complexity laboratory procedures, accurately reporting results. Ensures quality of results and proper operation of instrumentation.

Additional responsibilities of the Medical Laboratory Scientist/Medical Laboratory Technician include:

• Following procedures for test analysis and reporting, and maintaining records of patient results
• Understanding and operating test systems proficiently
• Troubleshooting test systems and taking appropriate action where indicated
• Utilizing job knowledge, judgment, and problem solving skills to ensure quality
• Performs simple and complex analysis on tissue, blood and body fluids using laboratory instrumentation, manual methods and SOPs.
• Trains other technical personnel in the performance of laboratory tasks
• Approves the performance of tests by technicians
• Uses independent judgement and assumes accountability for high quality standards

Medical Laboratory Scientist/Medical Laboratory Technician (Healthcare Sciences)

Job Requirements

Successful candidates for the Medical Laboratory Scientist/Medical Laboratory Technician must be certified in the area of medical laboratory science by American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) certification or equivalent (AMT, AAB, etc.).

• Associate Degree in Laboratory Science or Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) from an accredited institution OR Bachelor of Science Degree from an accredited institution with a major in biological, chemical, physical or clinical laboratory science OR a certified military training program.
• Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) ASCP or equivalent certification or obtained within two years of hire/transfer

Other Requirements

• Responsible to safely access, transport, and handle sharps such as needles, suture kits, lancets, syringes, etc.

Experience:

Minimum: Clinical rotation through educational program.

Preferred: One year experience
