Job Description

Manager – Financial Planning & Analysis

Our firm has been retained by a growing, well-established $50B West Coast Bank on a role as their Manager – Financial Planning & Analysis over one of their key lines of business. MR Dominion specializes in placing accounting, finance, audit, risk, and compliance professionals in $0 to $30B Banks nationwide. That’s what we do, it’s all we do.

This is a long-standing partnership with this client bank and a compelling one, however due to the urgency and high-profile nature of this role, it’s the first time they have retained us on a search. The finance executive we are partnering with joined our client within the last year from a nationwide bank and has made huge structural and systemic change in less than a year. Unlike other shops, this key FP&A role is not just a box checking exercise, this is an organization that has an appetite for data and the rough framework for that type of detailed reporting is already in place. The momentum is there, change has been embraced internally, you will have the budget, resources, and technology, we are simply now looking for that right finance professional to plug into the role and take the organization to where it needs to go

In this FP&A role, you will act as a single point of finance support for leadership within your line of business and will focus on building a bridge and building strong relationships across all levels of the organization. As the business advisor to the Senior Director of FP&A, you will act as an internal consultant by identifying and effectively communicating opportunities for improvement within the business line. You will be able to achieve this not only because of your past experiences, but by proactively researching industry trends and communicating results to business leadership. This organization has a strong data focus and you will leverage numerous data sources to gather and report financial and non-financial data to line of business leadership and have the ability to distill large amounts of data into concise and actionable presentations for leadership. Once the budget and forecasts and respective strategies are set, you will effectively update, review and communicate monthly financial forecasts, monthly financial performance and annual budget to multiple lines of business.

To be successful in this role, you must have confidence, moxie, conviction, and strong presentation skills with a focus on communication to executive leadership. You must have strong data management capabilities and the ability to understand and analyze balance sheets of financial services organizations. This intellectual curiosity to uncover opportunities internally or within the competitive marketplace is key to success in this role.

We are looking for a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business management or other directly related field is required and 7+ years of related financial services experience. A Master’s degree in accounting, finance, or similar is highly desirable with a bent towards data mining. Please inquire today in confidence.
