We are currently working with a global leader in the life sciences industry who is changing lives on a daily basis through their innovation and technology. They have been named by “Fortune Magazine” as one of the world’s most admired companies due to their unparalleled capabilities and incredible global team. They are looking to add a Director of Supply Chain to their leadership team who can help them propel the business into the future and deliver their mission.
This role serves as the primary global leader for the end-to-end order-in to product-out execution and continuous improvement for the business unit. The role includes direct leadership responsibility for the supply chain, order fulfillment, inventory, and operations manufacturing planning process. This position will be responsible for developing and driving initiatives which enable the business unit to meet & exceed service levels and product availability to end customers. This includes leading the SIOP process to link Commercial, B2B partners, Operations, Finance and Supply Chain forecasts that will translate into capacity and inventory strategies to increase customer service levels at an optimal cost. This position will be responsible for working very closely with manufacturing operations, customer service, internal and external suppliers as well as with global sales leaders. This is a collaborative role which will work closely with colleagues across the business to influence actions and jointly optimize order flow and product availability.
Position Description:
- Overall responsibility for Supply Chain including order taking, production capacity planning, procurement, warehousing and logistics.
- Develop and facilitate implementation of world-class demand and production planning that drives efficient production scheduling, operational effectiveness, and financial results.
- Ensure the necessary supply of materials to support production activities. Ensure availability of internal and external warehousing and transportation capacity to manage materials and products, including temperature-controlled storage and cold chain.
- Lead and execute the sales inventory and operations plan (SIOP) processes for the product line(s). Including forecasting, inventory management and reporting, capacity planning, and leadership reviews.
- Own the supplier management process including product, capacity, quality, and supplier escalations and drive appropriate root cause countermeasure (RCCM) and early warning systems.
- Ensure active coordination and partnership with the global factory and supplier network in Asia, Europe and North America.
- Facilitate weekly and monthly operating reviews to ensure adherence to key business metrics.
- Drive improvements and maintain metrics for OTIF, Backorders, E&O/scrap, forecast accuracy, DOS, inventory value, capacity, utilization, sourcing savings, PPI savings
- Communicate, influence and interact globally with broad functional areas (Sales, Marketing, Operations, Supply Chain, and Finance) to develop and execute plans to achieve annual operating plan (AOP) goals.
- Work closely with Global Trade Compliance to ensure compliant and effective movement of materials across borders and through customs.
- Lead supply chain practical process improvement (PPI) activities for the business unit across Middletown to drive continuous improvement.
- Key member of all new product introduction (NPI) projects and coordinating all supply chain efforts for product launch.
- Serve as primary escalation point for order fulfillment issues by providing coordination for resolution, including investigation and diagnosis.
Background Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree or an equivalent combination of university education and work experience required.
- At least 5+ years direct experience for functional leadership in a Global Supply Chain or Operations environment.
- Experience with a continuous improvement methodology (e.g., LEAN, Six Sigma).
- Ability to work in a complex matrix environment to create buy-in and implement processes.
- Proficiency in engaging and influencing large teams and functional leaders.
- Strong project management and problem-solving skills
- Must possess solid judgment and be able to work autonomously, bias for action.
- A strong collaborative leadership style with proven ability to drive change across multiple organizational levels, functions, and locations
- Analytical and statistical skills including the ability to develop and report metrics, develop complex models, & predictive and prescriptive analytics.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English – demonstrated through both written and spoken communication
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required, up to 20%
