Pine Needles Quilt and Sew is Rochester’s quilting, sewing, and embroidery hotspot! We have a lovely shop, a caring and knowledgeable staff, excellent educational offerings, and an ever-changing selection of the latest and greatest in fabric, and publications. Also, we sell the best sewing machines! And….. we are looking for a Sales Associate to join our team!
What does the Sales Associate do?
The primary responsibility of the Sales Associate position is to maintain outstanding customer service, generate sales and support the entire PNQS team. This position can be a part-time or full-time position and biweekly Saturday shifts. Unlike a lot of retail places, we are not open evenings or Sundays, so the work / life balance is very obtainable and something we encourage.
Essential Job Functions of the Sales Associate?
- Ensures each customer receives outstanding service.
- Maintains customer awareness of all promotions and advertisements.
- Handles customer grievances, clarifies the issues, and initiates suitable solutions.
- Answers customers’ questions on the phone or in-person and provides information on products and services in a positive and cheerful manner. Is kind and courteous to customers and co-workers.
- Executes the daily operational, day-to-day goals and priorities assigned by Sales Manager. Maintains satisfactory productivity throughout shift.
- Assist in training and development of peers
- Upholds store cleanliness and safety standards
- Maintains customer awareness of all promotions and advertisements.
- Assist in new training new employees
- Up-sell at the register each sale
- Work on shop projects as time allows
- Follow up on special orders
- Sewing machine repair intake and delivery
- General sewing machine repair diagnostics (thread/needle/tension)
- Answer telephone
- Assist with annual physical inventory
- Position requires standing and some lifting up to 40 lbs.
- High School education or GED required and at least 12 months of customer services experience, retail a plus. Knowledge of sewing, quilting, and embroidery along with a willingness to learn is also a huge plus.
- Ability to work and willingness to work flexible hours including alternate Saturdays.
- Knowledge of retail computer systems.
- Excellent communication skills, exceptional organization ability, high attention to detail, and ability to multi-task.
