We are seeking an experienced Human Resources (HR) Generalist with prior experience in a Civil Engineering firm to join our growing team and implement various human resources programs. You will use our Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS) to administer various performance, training, diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) programs in our multi-disciplined Civil Engineering firm, among other duties. Responsibilities

GENERAL

  • Prepare employees for cultural assimilation by establishing and conducting orientations
  • Assist with creating jobs (job analysis with managers), job descriptions, and ensure roles align with business plans
  • Organize/champion/measure Diversity/Equity/Inclusion (DEI), and other projects of corporate responsibility
  • Utilize personality profiles and dissonance tools to communicate and foster company culture and engage staff in retention efforts, employee relations support, performance management, terminations, team-building, complaint/conflict resolution and career development
  • Execute employee recognition programs
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations. Review policies and practices making recommendations as warranted
  • Support HR Department and organizational goals by providing monthly metrics and data analysis
  • Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in HR, talent management, and employment law
  • Develop and maintain personnel policies, procedures, and electronic forms
  • Process offer letters, employment contracts, and other legal agreements for employees as needed
  • Receive and address employment-related inquiries from employees, supervisors, and compliance organizations - referring specialized matters to appropriate staff
  • Document personnel issues, facilitate employee performance meetings, terminations, and investigations
  • Review, track, and document compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training and continuing education requirements, including safety training, anti-harassment training, professional licensure, and other certifications
  • Organize monthly training reports, coordinating with managers to ensure current assignments and certifications
  • Review, track and assign career development plans. Conduct quarterly training and goal benchmarking meetings
  • Implement, monitor, and coordinate safety programs with appropriate department leads (IIPP/CalOSHA)
  • Evaluate procedures and technology solutions to improve human resources LMS systems
  • Conduct job analyses and classification studies to ensure accuracy of job descriptions and classifications
  • May supervise or mentor Human Resources staff

TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT

  • Review, track, and document compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training and continuing education requirements, including safety training, anti-harassment training, professional licensure, and other certifications
  • Organize monthly training reports, coordinating with managers to ensure current assignments and certifications
  • Review, track and assign career development plans. Conduct quarterly training and goal benchmarking meetings
  • Implement, monitor, and coordinate safety programs with appropriate department leads (IIPP/CalOSHA)

Requirements

Minimum Education, Licensure, or Certification Required

  • Bachelors degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or similar OR commensurate years of work experience in addition to minimum years of experience
  • Human Resources certification from SHRM (SHRM SCP) or HRCI (SPHR) is highly desired - CA endorsement is a plus

Minimum Experience Required

  • A minimum of five (5) years of Human Resources experience (9 without a BA/S) practicing HR in California
  • Prior experience thriving in a 100% paperless work environment.
  • Exceptional organizational and project management skills
  • Prior experience utilizing Paylocity, Deltek Vision or similar systems in an A/E firm is highly desired
  • Proficiency in MS Excel

Other Requirements

  • Excellent Emotional Intelligence (EI) and organizational skills
  • Strong verbal, written, interpersonal, and presentation skills
  • Prior experience successfully utilizing Myers-Briggs/Jung or similar personality (EI) tools to promote positive communications throughout the organization
  • Strong knowledge of standard Human Resources practices and federal and CA employment laws
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality
  • Ability to work responsibly and reliably in this remote work environment opportunity
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment with limited daily supervision
