Engineer I, Applications

At CATHTIP, our objective is to develop excellence in automation, machine design, material handling, and custom tooling. We are currently seeking an Applications Engineer to join our dynamic catheter and guidewire manufacturing automation site in St. George, UT. The Applications Engineer’s main focus will be post-production machine testing, onsite installations, and new applications testing. Additional responsibilities include tooling development, customer technical support, and manual writing.
JOB DUTIES
The Essential Job Functions of the Application Engineer position are as follows:

• Diagnosing/testing machines for application readiness and quality
• Machine installation and training at customer facility. (Domestic and Int’l travel)
• Report machine recommendations to fulfill Sales quotes, based on customer requirements
• Develop tooling for customer orders of standard machines, based on material specs
• Update technical documents for accurate records of machines
• Act as technical support resource for Customer Service and Contract Service departments
• Verify dimensions and clearances of parts to ensure conformance to specifications, using precision measuring instruments
• Develops and maintains written product manuals, defining the parameters, tooling, and other needs customers will reference in running the machine

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position may require lifting, moving, and assembly of various machine parts and machinery.

SKILLS
Excellent written and verbal communication skills as needed in interactions with customers and CATHTIP team members

• Advanced computer skills – MS Office & Windows, CAD knowledge (i.e. AutoCad, Inventor, Pro-E, SolidWorks)
• Able to read and interpret wiring diagrams, mechanical assembly drawings and technical documentation
• MRP/ERP preferred,
• Analytical thinking and systematic approach to problem solving
• Able to function in a dynamic, fast paced, environment

QUALIFICATIONS
We are considering a combination of work experience and education to include the following:

• Bachelors in Engineering (Mech., Elec., or Aero.) with 0-3 years experience.

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Position requires moderate travel to customer sites with varying work environments
• Valid U.S. Passport is required for travel

Position will work in varying environments and conditions primarily in a controlled environment
