Job Description

The qualified candidate will provide Software Development to the Government Weapons Analysis Facility (WAF).  The candidate will provide technical expertise and support existing and emerging technologies essential to support the infrastructure of the Weapons Analysis Facility used for ongoing and future implementations and operations of real time hardware-in-the-loop simulators for weapons testing and simulation.

 

Responsibilities

MIKEL is seeking a Software Developer to support the following:

  • Formulate risk mitigation strategies and procedures, such as failures of servers, facility environment, and overall active security
  • Perform root cause analysis of failures
  • Work under general guidance, demonstrate an initiative to develop approaches to solutions independently, review architecture, and identify areas for automation, optimization and cost reduction
  • Interact cross-functionally with a wide variety of people and teams.  Work closely with facility management, users and teams to maximize efficiency in a real-time environment
  • Act as a resource to facility management and users to identify opportunities for, design, and assess product improvement
  • Work under general guidance, demonstrate an initiative to develop approaches to solutions independently, review architecture, and identify areas for automation, optimization and cost reduction
  • Recommend improvements and monitor facility performance with a focus on code optimization and performance, networks and security
  • Monitor code architecture for stability and taking both proactive and reactive measures to correct and prevent issues

 

Specific Job Requirements

  • C/C++ experience
  • Experience in weapons analysis and simulation
  • Solid understanding of LINUX and Windows Operating Systems
  • Strong problem solving and mitigation skills
  • Experience with full cycle hardware/software development projects
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
  • Excellent customer service skills, with an advanced understanding of customer relationship building
  • Ability to work in self-directed fashion, asking for assistance as needed
  • Python and/or Java
  • Microsoft Office Sweet to include MS Word, Excel, Outlook

 

Preferred Experience & Skills:

  • Experience with writing unit tests
  • Experience with automated deployment systems such as Docker, Kubernetes, etc.
  • Experience with version control such as GIT
  • Experience with modeling/simulation in general
  • Experience with SQL (SQLite in particular) and database design
  • Bachelor’s degree with greater than years 3 years of experience in related field

 

Department of Defense Active Security Clearance is required at time of hire.  Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.  Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.
