MESA Food Pantry Operations Manager

Madison Emergency Services Association (MESA) is a non-profit serving the citizens of Madison County, Virginia. MESA is currently hiring an Operations Manager to manage the food pantry and related facilities and operations. The Manager will train and supervise employees and volunteers.

Food Pantry operations are the primary responsibility of the Manager, ensuring appropriate storage of perishable and shelf-stable food, compliance with partner organization requirements, maintaining the facility, property, inventory, ordering, supplies, and equipment. The Manager is responsible for adjusting distribution processes, hours, staffing, and procedures to accommodate changes in food availability or client needs, participates in sourcing new food providers, and setting customer service expectations for the team. The Manager serves in a leadership role working closely with the MESA Board of Directors.

To be competitive applicants should have a minimum of 3 years of managerial/supervisory experience in a food pantry, supermarket, or comparable high-volume environment; HS diploma or GED, excellent customer service skills, multi-tasking experience, basic computer (MS Office) and math skills, the ability to lift and carry objects up to 25 pounds routinely, the ability to place up to 50 pounds on to wheeled carts regularly, a valid drivers license, and a clean driving record.

Successful candidates must be able to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with diverse groups, including staff, volunteers, grocery store personnel and the Board of Directors.
