The Scheduler/Production Coordinator is responsible for creating a schedule and coordinating the production departments, purchasing, and manning requirements to accomplish that schedule. The Scheduler/Production Coordinator will also have ultimate responsibility for the maintenance of the production schedule.

Utilizing the computer network, coordinating customer requests with material, labor and machine capacity availability is the primary job function. Once the acknowledged production and ship date is attained, that information needs to be put into the sales order backlog report for the use of all departments. Once the order is entered, the function of individual schedules for all production areas along with the input of information for material and manpower planning needs to be accomplished.

The Scheduler/Production Coordinator will assist production in coordinating the flow of materials with the available manning.

This position reports to the V.P. of Sales & Marketing


2.1 Production Schedule: Individual is responsible to see that adherence to schedule is being maintained. Schedule discrepancy needs to be reviewed with the V.P. of Operations. With the aid of the V.P. of Operations, daily meetings will be held with the pertinent Area Leaders to ensure schedule maintenance or to make necessary adjustments. Whenever possible, schedules should be placed to ultimately utilize all resources to a maximum and to ensure high efficiency and utilization.

2.2 Order Acknowledgment: Individual is responsible to ensure that all customer requests are responded to as quickly as possible. Expedites and other abnormal customer requests need to be analyzed with appropriate functions and information must be communicated back to the customer either directly or through the sales group. Customer information such as JIT reports, supplier schedules, assured space programs along with other means customers have of communicating their firm and forecasted needs to be reviewed and reacted to on a daily basis.

2.3 Shipment Adherence: Prior to, or at the morning production meeting, the Scheduler/Production Coordinator will review the daily shipment requirements and coordinate successful completion.

2.4 Major responsibilities will be schedule deviations or deficiencies; new and/or change orders affecting the current plan; updating schedules; shipping problems or concerns; customer requests or concerns, coordination of customer information (firm and forecast) with the sales order backlog, the MRP, manning plan, and all production schedules.

2.5 All other duties as assigned.


· Has knowledge of the production floor; understanding line rates, bottlenecks, and other pertinent information that affects production schedule attainment.

· Is familiar with the McMillan Electric Company numbering system, bills of material and raw materials.

· Is comfortable communicating with customers and suppliers.

· Has understanding of the overall computer system as it relates the production schedule, MRP, labor requirements, daily force reports and be able to troubleshoot these system problems.

· Has excellent verbal and written communication at both a professional and technical level.

· Is a team player with strong leadership capability and has the ability to take the initiative.

· Has a strong desire to see the job through to successful completion.

· Has computer literacy

· Epicor knowledge is beneficial


Safety glasses and hearing protection are required in production area. The employee works in a climate controlled environment.
