Job Description

Description: mcfa has an immediate opening for a highly motivated Inspector with construction experience who is ready to jump in and take on projects.

 

Ideal candidate should have the following:

· Higher education degree in Civil Engineering.

· Experience in Roadway Construction and Roadway Resurfacing Inspection.

· Must possess NICET II certification.

· Must be certified by the N.J. Society of Asphalt Technologists (SAT).

· Must complete OSHA – 30 Hour Training Course and/or have flexibility to complete this course.

· Desired but not required - ACI Grade 1 certification and Rutgers Traffic Control Cert.

· Ability to travel to field project sites.

· Ability to monitor construction operations.

· Knowledge in collecting samples of materials as needed.

· Ability to utilize field testing equipment to determine compliance with project plans, specifications, and industry standards.

· Ability to review approved plans, specifications, and submittals for inspection requirements.

· Knowledge on compliance with inspection requirements in accordance with the applicable code, approved plans, and specifications.

· Ability to process daily field reports and inspection reports.

· Ability to attend meetings and communicate with project managers, colleagues, and contractors as required.

 

Duties and responsibilities:

· Requires a valid, acceptable driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites, as regular daily travel is required.

· Inspect all construction materials to be used at the site to ensure compliance with the Plans and Specifications.

· Inspect all construction activities to ensure quality of workmanship.

· Maintain daily records of the numbers and classification of workers employed by the Contractors.

· Prepare daily reports of all construction and engineering field work.

· Prepare weekly quantity summaries for each item of the contract, with an appropriate format.

· Maintain records covering running totals of quantities and costs while construction is in progress.

· Maintain daily records of the type and size of equipment used on all construction operations.

· Review traffic protection procedures.

· Review and coordinate submittals as required per the Plans and Specifications.

· Perform tests required to ensure material compliance with the Plans and Specifications.

Additional Project Info:

Project consists of the enhancement of twenty-three (23) Service Area ramps that facilitate access to the following nine (9) Service Areas along the Garden State Parkway: Ocean View, Forked River, Monmouth, Jon Bon Jovi, Colonia South, Colonia North, Brookdale South, Brookdale North, and Montvale. The scope of work also includes roadway widening with associated berm, guiderail, drainage and highway lighting improvements, milling and asphalt overlay and ground-mounted sign relocation between Milepost 18.3 and 171.0 in Cape May, Ocean, Monmouth, Middlesex, Essex and Bergen Counties, New Jersey.
