Job Description

Maxim Healthcare Staffing is seeking an Infection Control Specialist responsible for the coordination, development,implementation, and monitoringof an infection control program and/or employee health program. Responsible for coordinatingprograms designed to detect, evaluate and minimize risks of acquired infectionsto patients,employees and visitors. Infection Control Specialist supports and acts as aresource to administration,medical staff, and all hospital services.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Identifiesand monitors specified infections and performs targeted surveillance
  • Participatesin performance improvement programs as it relates to communicable disease and evolvingpathogens
  • Ensuresthe surveillance, analysis and reporting of infectious diseases
  • Designsand implements plans of actions when epidemiological issues are identified
  • Identifiesand reports communicable diseases as required by state and local health lawsand/or regulations
  • Abilityto draft, review, and evaluate policies and procedures as they are associatedwith infection control
  • Identifies,monitors and investigates outbreaks and/or exposures in facility
  • Measuresoutcomes to assist in determining improvements in processes associated to the preventionof infections
  • Recommendsutilization of regulatory guidelines in order to comply with accreditingagencies such as the Joint Commission and Centers for Disease Control (CDC)
  • Participatesin infection control committees and/or other committees as assigned
  • Acts asa liaison with other departments to assist in reducing the risk of diseasetransmissions and improving infection control practices
  • Coordinatesand handles program development and education
  • Participatesin communicating information to all departments, as associated with infection controland prevention
  • Performsother duties as assigned/necessary

 Minimum Requirements:

  • Current license as a Registered Nurse in the state of assignment required
  • Bachelor’sDegree in Nursing preferred
  • Threeto five (3-5) years’ experience in employee health or infection controlpreferred
  • InfectionControl Certification preferred
  • Knowledgeof state, federal and Joint Commission regulations
  • Advancedknowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Access preferred
  • Abilityto use sound judgment in decision making
  • Abilityto effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals(including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communicationskills; proficiency in the English language may be required
  • Computerproficiency required
  • Must beat least eighteen (18) years of age
