A. Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Georgia
B. Preferred 1-year management experience with at least 1 yearof experience in correctional nursing
C. Current American Hearth Association BLS certification
D. Security clearance by the Georgia Department of Correctionsand Augusta University

III. General Responsibilities:
In conjunction with the MH Regional NurseManager and the Director of Nursing, coordinates mental health nursing care forthe MH nurse team members. Practices daily active visibility at the facility tomonitor the care being delivered and respond to staff needs. Plans, directs andevaluates patient care activities to assure optimal care. Maintainsprofessional dress and action according to GDC and AU/DCHC policy andprocedure; assures all staff maintain appropriate professional dress.
A. Supervises the activities of the MH nurse team members
B. Aids in hiring, discipline and termination of MH nurses
C. Coordinates assignments of MH nurses
D. Coordinates orientation of all new MH nurses
E. Assesses skills and offers training for all MH nursesannually
F. Ensures schedules are completed and nursing coverage isprovided for the CSU units per policyA. Provides oversight through monitoring activities,participating in CQI, and completing mandatory reports

H. Provides staff support when needed in the direct deliveryof nursing care
I. Physical Effort:
A. Must be able to lift 50 lbs

E. Normal levels of hearing and seeing, if necessary, withcorrective appliances

C. Knowledge of the Rules and Regulations regarding thepractice of nursing in the state of George (Georgia Nurse Practice Act)
D. Flexibility and adaptability in dealing with sudden changesin schedules and/or work environments
E. Knowledge of OSHA, NCCHC, ACA, TJC and other regulatorypatient and safety standards
F. Ability to exhibit leadership, characterized by substantialand continuous responsibility and accountability, for integrated programs thatcross service and/or discipline lines, influencing the organization’s missionand health care delivery.
G. Demonstrate positive communication skills, sharinginformation clearly and concisely.
H. Display the ability to foster positive workingrelationships with management and leadership across all disciplines as well aswith nursing at all levels
I. Sound written and verbal communication skills
J. Understanding of Mental Health disorders, their signs andsymptoms, current preferred treatments, complications noted.
K. Knowledge of current formulary and methods of obtainingexceptions.
