HR/EHS Coordinator

SUMMARY:

As the HR/EHS Coordinator, you will be responsible for managing the full scope of health, safety and environmental programs. Be responsible for the coordination of all Health and Safety policies, procedures, education, and training for both salary and hourly employee groups. Provide information and guidance to Supervisors, Managers, and employees on HS&E matters as necessary.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Diploma/GED
    • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety and Health (preferred)
    • Equivalent experience also accepted
  • Must be able to work B shift
    • M-F, 4:00PM-1:00AM
  • Knowledge of OSHA and regulatory compliance
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • 1+ years of HR/EHS experience
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, oral and written
    • Must be able to interface with all departments
  • Strong teamwork orientation
    • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with management staff, employees, and corporate personnel

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coach and guide supervisors regarding, Performance, Discipline, Diversity, Policies & Procedures and Teamwork
  • Ensure employee confidentiality and data integrity is strictly maintained
  • Assist in new hire process for both hourly and salaried staff
  • Assist in New Hire Orientations to all new employees
  • Review payroll for accuracy bi-weekly; provide reports to management as requested
  • Track hourly and salaried employees’ vacation and time off requests
  • Provide administrative support to human resources function as needed (e.g. correspondence generation, record keeping, file maintenance, etc)
  • Prepare, administer, and track hourly progressive discipline in conjunction with supervisors;
  • Assist in the company’s leave of absence programs. Leave of absence programs include: STD, LTD, FMLA, company medical leave, personal leave, and military leave
  • Conduct job-based Physical Demand Assessments, Job Safety Analysis, and Ergonomic Risk Assessments to determine safety and ergonomic risks
  • Develop and maintain a communication network amongst the Emergency services in the community
  • Perform workplace inspections
  • Maintain OSHA 300 log and post annual summary when necessary
  • Chair plant Safety and Health Committee
  • Oversee facility noise conservation program and related records and documentation
  • Complete all accident reports and investigations in timely manner
  • Report and/or correct unsafe acts and work conditions in timely manner
  • Conduct investigations in regards to employee complaints and/or discipline
  • Prepare and participate in Corporate and Third-Party Safety and Environmental audits
  • Enforce safety and shop rules fairly and consistently
  • Advise employees of the existence of known, potential, or actual danger to the health or safety of the employee
  • Facilitate employee safety training such as forklift certification, fall protection, hazard communication, and etc.
  • Ensure all department Managers/Supervisors are aware of the requirement to implement and enforce all safety and non-safety plant rules and regulations are followed
  • Provide resources/training for employees related to department hazards and safe operation of equipment to ensure employee awareness of safety policies, appropriate work habits and obligation for compliance for employees and visitors
  • Respond immediately to items brought to his/her attention with respect to hazards, defects or non-compliance issues
  • Take appropriate corrective action when substandard performance is observed
  • Advise employees of the existence of any potential or actual hazards to their health & safety in the workplace of which you are aware
  • Communicate to employees the importance of adherence to established health & safety policies and procedures through safety talks, departmental meetings and or work center briefings
  • Communicate and enforce all company health & safety policies, practices and rules, and readily correct unsafe conditions or behaviors of which you become aware
  • Support employees impaired through injury or illness to safely return to work (Return to Work program)
