  • M&R Precision Machining is offering a unique and exciting opportunity for a highly skilled and experienced Quality Engineering Manager to manage and lead all aspects of M&R’s Quality Department as we continue to expand our business into Aerospace and Defense.
  • As a key member of our Management team, you will play an important role in building and shaping the future direction of our Quality Department. You will work closely with the Director of Operations to ensure M&R becomes a recognized industry leader in manufacturing high quality products that meet exact customer specifications.

This position will report to the Director of Operations and will:

  • Manage and build a state-of-the-art Quality Department that is recognized as an industry leader in Aerospace & Defense.
  • Oversee the reorganization of the Quality Department, including evaluating current quality performance, processes, standards, and procedures and implementing recommendations for improvement.
  • Lead and direct the Quality Department and all Quality Management Processes.
  • Achieve Quality Performance Goals (99% +).
  • Identify the highest priority quality issues and prepare action plans to obtain successful results.
  • Manage weekly KPI quality metrics.
  • Write CMM programs for an Apache CMM with ARCO-CAD DMIS-based software that fully utilize CMM technologies and accurately measure high-precision machined components.
  • Develop robust quality programs for First Article Inspections (FAIs), in-process inspections, part-specific inspections, final inspections, and product prototypes.
  • Work with the Engineering Department and the Production Department to develop improved engineering and production standards.
  • Train employees to meet all Quality Management requirements, including blueprint reading and interpretation, GD&T, proper inspection procedures, CMM programming, etc.
  • Conduct a thorough and properly documented Root Cause Analysis of all Non-Conforming products and put effective Preventative Action Procedures in place to prevent recurrence.
  • Keep the Director of Operations fully apprised of all quality-related performance issues, needs, and concerns.
  • Work with Customers to fully understand and meet 100% of their quality and reporting requirements.
  • Implement quality inspection processes for incoming Raw Materials and parts from Outside Vendors to ensure 100% quality compliance.
  • Initiate Continuous Improvement Processes in the Quality Department.
  • Work with external auditors and internal employees to maintain quality certifications (AS9100D and ISO 9001). Maintain all required records with full document control.


The Ideal Candidate Will Have Some or All of the Following Qualifications

  • B.S. or M.S. in Engineering, Aerospace, Aviation, Statistics, Science, Mathematics, or Quality Assurance (or proven equivalent experience) is required.
  • Minimum of 3 - 5 years Quality Management experience, with a demonstrated track record of success is required.
  • Extensive Quality Management experience in Aerospace, Defense, and/or Automotive industries is highly preferred, but not required.
  • Extensive experience with accurate Blueprint Reading and Interpretation, First Article Inspections (FAIs), In-Process Inspections, CMM Programming and Inspections, Manual Inspections, GD&T, Prototypes, Ballooning, Root Cause Analysis of Non-Conforming Products, Preventative Action Procedures, AS9100D and ISO 9001 Certifications, and all aspects of Quality Management is required.
  • Extensive experience writing CMM Quality Inspection Programs and operating CMM equipment is required. Must be skilled at fixturing parts for CMM inspections and identifying the most appropriate inspection methods for each type of part and inspection.
  • Specific experience using an Apache CMM with ARCO-CAD DMIS software (or a comparable software such as Renishaw MODUS, Nikon CAMIO, etc.) is highly preferred, but not required.
  • Level 2 AUKOM Metrology Certification is preferred, but not required.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Quick learner with the ability to think proactively, implement error-proofing processes, and maintain a culture of continuous improvement.
  • A reputation for integrity, honesty, and high standards of personal character is required.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States is mandatory.
