Job Description

 

Lumitron Aerospace Lighting Components is looking for a candidate with manufacturing and/or quality control background to join the Production team in performing a variety of production and quality control operations related to computer aided manufacturing (CAM) of miniature optical components at various stages of the production process. This position requires a willingness to learn and improve various manufacturing methods. It involves determining both dimensional and spectral conformance of our optical components to strict quality control requirements. Additional duties include receiving and incoming inspections of raw materials and subcomponent parts, inventory control, control of quality and production documentation, and other production related processes as needed such as assisting benchtop computer numerically controlled (CNC) operations.

 

Responsibilities include:

  1. · Reading blueprints or work orders for product specifications such as precise dimensions and tolerances
  2. · Performing 1st piece, in-process, and final inspections of CNC and assembly work orders as needed
  3. · Performing dimensional measurements and quality control testing of miniature optical components using digital calipers and digital microscopes to verify conformance to precise dimensional specifications
  4. · Performing spectral measurements and quality control testing of miniature optical components in the light laboratory
  5. · Communicating quality issues and out of specifications conditions to appropriate personnel
  6. · Seeking process improvements and making recommendations to management
  7. · Preparing material for bonding, sanding, etc., for CNC machining
  8. · Setting up and operating benchtop CNC machining of optical components
  9. · Assisting in root cause analysis and corrective action of non-conforming parts
  10. · Performing incoming inspection of received parts and material
  11. · Assisting in inventory control, production control systems, and maintaining production data base
  12. · Maintaining records of quality control documents in accordance to the company Quality Management System (QMS)
  13. · Operating power tools such as benchtop band saws, barrel sanders, and rotary tools
  14. · Willing to learn and adapt to various production and technical tasks in a dynamic and changeable work environment

Requirements:

· Basic computer competency and proficiency in Microsoft Office

· Fine motor skills and dexterity working with measurement equipment and small or fragile objects

· Ability to follow detailed instructions carefully and accurately

· Strong visual attention to detail and ability to recognize and distinguish colors

· Self-motivated and organized

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills

· Experience with hand tools

· Ability to learn and to follow detailed instructions

· Attention to detail and pride in workmanship

· Bonus skills:

o Previous CNC, quality control and manufacturing experience

o Experience with electrical circuits or electronic components

o Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in a related field

o Bilingual (Spanish and English)

o Knowledge of ISO 9001:2015

o Interest in aviation or aerospace and defense industry
