Luminator is seeking to fill our **full-timeTestTechnician**role to join our growing and dynamic Repair Centerteam where you will be an integral part of the team by providing valuable input as we work toward assessing and implementing goals and mission of the department and Luminator.

The successful TestTechniciancandidate will be part of a team working to expand a strong and proven concept that has solid growth potential, with the opportunity to create substantial shareholder value. You will be responsible for performing advanced system level troubleshooting along with repairs to component level on mobile video, signage, and lighting products for Luminator's transportation partners.

  • Performs inspect, test, troubleshoot, and repair of systems, components, and other products, using established procedures.
  • Set up and configure test fixtures, mechanical and/or electrical controls, cabling, power sources, and measuring instruments.
  • Conduct and log routine preventative maintenance of test fixtures and equipment.
  • Maintain equipment logs that record performance, problems, repairs, calibrations, or tests.
  • Setup and test industrialequipment to ensure that it functions properly.
  • Evaluate message listings and digital content for appropriate formatting for each product type.
  • Inspect components of equipment for accurate assembly and installation or for defects, such as loose connections or frayed wires.
  • Maintain ESD protected areas and all required charts.
  • Compile and submit required repair reports, and work timesheets.
  • Provide time and cost estimates on repairs.
  • Watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to makesure a machine is working properly.
  • Repairing machines or systems using necessary tools.
  • Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
  • Performing routine maintenance on equipment and determining when and what kindof maintenance is necessary.
  • Other job duties as required.



**Test Technician**will be an experienced candidate who can successfully lead as a very hands-on Test Technician to scale for additional growth and maximize potential.

This candidate will possess:

  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
  • Knowledge of testing, repair, and manufacturingprocedures and systems.
  • Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
  • Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
  • Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work-related documents.
  • Talking to others to convey information effectively.
  • Monitoring/assessing your performance to make improvements or take corrective action.
  • Ability to follow and adhereto OSHA safety guidelines every day.
  • Ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
  • Ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand.
  • Ability to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing.
  • Ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense.
  • Ability to speak clearly so others comprehend the deliveryof the message.
  • Ability to solder through hole and surface mount components.
  • Ability to read and explain schematics.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications is required, including but not limited to Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • 3 + years of experience with testingenvironments and using general mechanical assemblytools:oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, programming tools, etc. required.
  • Understanding of RS232, RS485, J1708, CAN bus, Ethernet, etc. is a plus
  • HS Diploma or equivalent isrequired.
  • AS degree is preferred.


The Test Technician will prioritize and broadly execute the following:

  • Ability to communicate, both orally and in writing, complex technical issues in a clear, concise matter, to individuals with little or no technical background.
  • Ability to take initiative by identifying problems, conceptualizing resolutions, and implementing change along with having attention to detail skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage projects to ensure all deadlines are met is essential.
  • Ability to see details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).
  • Ability to use computers and computer systems (including hardware and software) to program, write software, setup functions, enter data, or process information.
  • The abilityto tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. It doesn't involve solving the problem, only recognizing that there is aproblem.
  • The ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that makesense.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Ability to work efficiently and accurately with details and fluctuating work volumes.


Plano is a city in the state of Texas, just north of downtown Dallas. It is a hub for many corporate headquarters and has been rated by Forbes as the safest city in 2011. Plano has many visitors, 80% of which are business travelers. The Preston Road area is home to major corporate headquarters of Fortune 1000companies which have brought thousands of jobs to thearea.

Plano has two major space reserves: Arbor Hills Nature Preserve (200 acres) and Oak Point Park & Nature Preserve (800acres). Bob Woodruff Park andOak Point Park are connectedby biking trails providing an abundance of outdoor recreation for families in Plano. These parks also include activities such as zip lining and Tarzan swings. They have five recreation centers that feature pools, dog parks, and amphitheaters for entertainment. This represents 84 parks. They feature an annual balloon festival every September that draws thousands.

Collin College has two campuses in Plano. Southern Methodist University (SMU) and Dallas Baptist University also have campuses in Plano. There are 70 public schools and 16 private schools. Plano has more graduates than other comparable communities in Texas, graduating 93% of their classes, and score 18 percentage points higher than the same population in Dallas. Many graduate as National MeritScholars.

Plano is served by the Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART). They provide commuter services via bus and lightrail systems. The system is used by 1%of the population.

As far as arts, culture, and entertainment, Plano is hometo over 700 restaurants. There is a thriving downtown scene that is rated in the top ten within the country. This includes new office spaces aswell as major retail establishments. Plano is a major, busy, bustling city and oneof the best places in the United States tolive.
