Job Description

We do this through three strategic and complimentary areas of focus: Asset Optimization and Commercialization, Value Access and Outcomes, and Medical Strategy and Communications.

We are seeking an Account Director to join our Medical Strategy and Communications team, which serves our clients by mobilizing our scientific knowledge to interpret the data and create compelling narratives to guide their medical strategy and through regulatory challenges.

The Account Director leads the account service and agency team through the successful management of an account or accounts on a day-to-day basis with a focus on the execution and completion of client projects. The Account Director also builds relationships with clients while encouraging new and repeat business opportunities.

Essential Functions:

  • Provide exceptional client service, consistent with company's account service standards, including:
    • Proactively manage the account and be responsive to the clients expectations and needs in project execution on a timely basis
    • Independently provide clear and concise communication and information to client, both verbally and via email
    • Work with team to prepare for and lead internal and client status meetings
    • Ensure that client meeting materials are accurately prepared (i.e. agenda, slides, meeting minutes, etc.)
    • Attend and lead onsite client meetings as required
    • Understand and ensure the team follows all client required standard operating procedures and requirements
    • Neither under or over service the assigned account(s)
  • Overall responsibility for facilitating moving, tracking, and delegating of assigned projects on a proactive basis, including the following:
    • Ensure that client information is communicated to the internal team in a clear and timely manner, and seek information from client to meet team needs in execution
    • Own the integrity and accuracy of the status report and other client deliverables while maximizing the role of other colleagues in preparation of these documents
    • Ensure that other internal departments are alerted of resourcing needs in a timely fashion and accurately issue the weekly action lists
    • Review that timelines are drafted accurately
    • Ensure appropriate project-related communication is saved in the shared drive
    • Work closely with the project team to identify and resolve potential issues or issues
  • Overall responsibility for the integrity and accuracy of financial deliverables (i.e. budgets, invoices, Totality, etc.)
    • Work with account team to draft, submit, monitor and adhere to approved budgets
    • Ensure that budget changes (i.e. change in scope that may lead to overage) are reported to the client in a timely manner
    • Maintain accurate financial spreadsheet(s) to support internal and client needs
    • Work with teams to submit invoices, accruals, etc. in a timely manner consistent with both internal and client directed SOPs
    • Prepare for and is accountable for actions discussed in monthly revenue meetings
  • Maintain accurate records within client chosen publication technology program (i.e. Datavision or PubSTRAT)
    • Provide timely and accurate project status updates and client requested reports (i.e. bibliography, TASC, icon charts, etc)
    • Work efficiently with the publication technology coordinator of manager in a proactive and organized manner consistent with optimizing use of the publication technology resource
  • Overall accountability and leadership across account(s)
    • Utilizes staff resources effectively and consistently based on roles of other colleagues
    • Delegates responsibility, and relevant and approved tasks, effectively; allows other colleagues to perform their jobs without micromanagement
    • Resolves conflicts in a timely manner
    • Recognizes individual team member contributions
  • Seek to identify new areas to expand organic growth
    • Seek, extend and expand client relationships and business opportunities by anticipating client needs, developing solutions, and implementing programs with internal resources & approvals
    • Remain aware and in pursuit of opportunities for account growth and new business
    • Identify areas of organic account growth and communicate them in a timely manner to the Senior VP, Strategic Client Partnerships via the appropriate channels
    • Develop/assist with client proposals or client presentations
    • Participate in organic growth and business development presentations
    • Understand and apply principles of good publication practice or compliance standards consistent with industry and company policy at all times

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelors degree
  • 6 Plus years account management experience in the pharmaceutical or healthcare industries
  • Certified Medical Publications Professional via the credentialing program offered by the International Society of Medical Publication Professionals (ISMPP) preferred
