The team works on advanced bioinformatics technology programs that focused in support of precision-based medical trials for the National Cancer Institute in Rockville, Maryland. The project is organized into cross-functional teams that work closely with stakeholders, developers, QA Engineers, Product Managers, and designers to build state-of-the-art portfolio of exploratory projects that are inherently multidisciplinary that impact cancer research and treatment.
The full-time QA Engineer will be an integral key member of the team that brings their QA automation experience and expertise to create cutting-edge software solutions. This is a full-time remote/telecommute position.

The project is organized into cross-functional teams that work closely with stakeholders, developers, QA Engineers, Product Managers, and designers to build state-of-the-art portfolio of exploratory projects that are inherently multidisciplinary that impact cancer research and treatment.
Position Description
The full-time QA Engineer will be an integral key member of the team that brings their QA automation experience and expertise to create cutting-edge software solutions. The position is ideal for a talented QA engineer who is interested in working in an exciting growth environment among people passionate about advanced technologies in the fight against cancer. This is a full-time remote/telecommute position.
Responsibilities
- Design testing plan scenarios for automated and manual unit, process, function, integration and acceptance testing
- Develop automated functional tests using Selenium, Cucumber, Protractor, and other modern testing frameworks
- Analyze and interpret moderately complex functional and systems requirements
- Identify and document software and system defects
- Ensure consistency with an established QA automation architecture
- Create practical solutions using Agile and BDD methodologies in a Continuous Integration environment
- Be an expert to research and identify technical solutions to problems discovered in QA
Required Qualifications
- Excited about QA automation for amazing applications in cutting-edge environment
- Expert knowledge of manual and automated testing of web applications including testing of front end, RESTful web services, and backend functionality
- Experience developing test plans, requirements traceability matrix and test reports
- Proficient experience of Selenium, Cucumber, and Protractor QA automation frameworks
- Minimum of six (6) years of relevant QA engineering experience
- Must have expertise in manual and automated testing of REST API services
- Experience coding in languages such as JavaScript, Ruby, Python, or Java
- Good understanding of test driven development and behavior driven development
- Excellent problem solving skills
- Take ownership and work independently on large portions of a project with minimal supervision
- Ability to work effectively with a team on complex projects with strict requirements
- Strong communication (written and verbal) and organizational skills
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or equivalent years of experience in lieu of degree
- Must be able to obtain Public Trust security clearance
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of different testing frameworks like Karma, Jasmine, or others is a plus
- Experience with some of all - Perl, Bash, Ruby, Python
- Have a good knowledge of GIT, its branching, rebase, and merging strategies
- Comfortable with bug tracking systems such as JIRA
- Ability in formulating and implementing IT solutions to meet business requirements
