Job Summary

Longenecker & Associates (L&A), a woman owned small business, has provided technical and management support to the Nuclear Energy Industry for over 30+ years. We have the immediate need for a Scientist 2 to contribute to the mission of Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL). LANL is a multidisciplinary research institution dedicated to enhancing national security by ensuring the safety and reliability of the U.S. nuclear stockpile, developing technologies to reduce threats from weapons of mass destruction, and solving problems related to energy, environment, infrastructure, health, and global security concerns.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities (may include, but are not limited to)

The Scientist 2 position is responsible for a broad set of activities within a scientific discipline in support of research and development (R&D) science, which is defined as the application of scientific principles under the scientific method to address technical problems; or to develop novel techniques or principles; or to analyze data or outcomes from experiments (in the real world or in the computational domain) or from observational procedures in the context of the underlying scientific principles or models. Broad experience in a relevant technical discipline is required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  1. Experience in scientific data analysis.
  2. Experience with scientific computing and demonstrable knowledge of one or more scientific programming languages.
  3. Ability to interact with all levels of management.
  4. Ability to analyze data, and understand organizational disparities, as well as implementing solutions to address such areas.
  5. Ability to work independently and in groups.
  6. Strong analytical skills
  7. Proficient communication skills, both written and verbal
Minimum Qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience with essential duties.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills necessary to interact constructively with all levels of management, subject matter experts and external agencies.

·       Must have the ability to obtain a Q-level DOE security clearance

  • Must be a US Citizen.
Education and Experience Required
  • Bachelor’s, master’s, or doctorate degree in science from an accredited college or university.
  • Experience working on a DOE site is preferred but not required.
