EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
This position requires reliable remote work with possible travel to client locations in Washington state and/or Texas. The position is at least 30 hours a week, no more than 40. Exact schedule is negotiable.

The 12-week internship begins May 15th and ends August 4th.
L&A offers an education-forward, paid intern experience for qualified students looking to learn more about the mission and industry supporting the Department of Energy’s role in our nation’s critical infrastructure. Selected interns will be hired as part-time, non-exempt (hourly) employees at a rate between $22-25/hour depending on experience and year in school.
Interns will actively contribute to solutions for client problems and be asked to participate as a team member. L&A also provides frequent training sessions on the various elements of the DOE complex, the types of work we do to support our sites, tools and systems used in our industry, tours of DOE sites (when possible) and ongoing mentorship by an L&A manager.

POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Engineering Intern will operate under the direction of our ALPD project management team. The main duties include, but are not limited to:
- Uphold L&A’s core values,
- Meet all requirements of your institution’s internship program,
- Follow the intern work plan and timeline,
- Participate in team meetings, calls and video conferences and maintain appropriate communication with your Mentor, team and intern coordinator,
- Conduct independent research and self-guided analysis as assigned,
- Assist in oversight of design, construction and testing of nuclear and non-nuclear facilities,
- Endeavor to apply engineering concepts in guided, practical exercises,
- Periodically present to coworkers and leadership,
- Daily timekeeping,
- Support team as needed with document creation, system maintenance, business analysis, and other business activities,
- Support the Project Manager and team with other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- Study toward a bachelor’s degree with a focus on an Engineering and/or construction discipline,
- At least one year of basic science and math courses at the college level,
- Ability to integrate information from multiple sources to form a comprehensive perspective,
- Desired Software Skills: Microsoft Office suite,
- Desired Software Skills: Microsoft Office suite with a strong proficiency in Excel,
- High level of attention to detail,
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills,
- Must be able to successfully pass a general background check and drug screen (if required for onsite work),
- Must be a US Citizen.
