Job Description

Lone Mountain Land Company (LMLC) manages the planning, entitlement, building, marketing, and sale of premier real estate communities around Big Sky, Montana. The company supports world- class operations at Spanish Peaks Mountain Club and Moonlight Basin and oversees real estate activities at Spanish Peaks, Moonlight Basin, Big Sky Town Center, and other projects in the Big Sky region.

Job Description

This position is generally responsible for managing the environmental performance of the Town Center, Moonlight Basin and Spanish Peaks developments that are under the Lone Mountain Land Company ownership. Under the oversight of the Director, the position will, implement, and monitor environmental strategies, policies and programs that promote a sustainable and compliant development. The role will utilize internal and external staffing to implement on ground efforts.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Indirectly supervises employees and/or Supervisors/Foremen; carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the LMLC’s policies, procedures and applicable laws; responsibilities include but are not limited to: training employees; planning, assigning, and managing work; assisting in hiring and appraising of performance.

  • Ensure that each Member and guest receives outstanding service in a friendly environment which includes greeting and acknowledging every Member and guest, maintaining outstanding service standards, solid product knowledge and all other components of guest service.
  • Empowered to guarantee total Member satisfaction, display hospitality and professionalism to our Members at all times, take pride in representing LMLC professionally with our Members and guests and assure that all transactions are handled in a legal and ethical manner.
  • Understand and apply all property safety and security procedures to maintain a secure and safe environment for team members, Members, and guests at all times.
  • Maintain a favorable working relationship with all LMLC team members to foster and promote a positive working environment.

Essential Job Functions

  • Examine TC, MLB and SPR activities to establish where improvements can be made and ensure compliance with environmental legislation.
  • Monitor environmental assessments to identify and resolve environmental problems.
  • Implements, and executes strategies and action plans that establish and maintain an Environmental Management Program which include but not limited to; Storm Water Permit administration, wildlife monitoring and annual reporting, noxious weed management and annual reporting, forest health management and annual reporting, environmental outreach to members and staff, and Petroleum spill, prevention, countermeasure and control administration.
  • Ensure staff is trained at all levels and that the greater workforce recognizes their own contributions to improved environmental performance.
  • Ensures a safe working environment; provides safety training and safety equipment and ensures compliance with industry, OSHA, and company safety standards.
  • Leader in terms of work ethic, attitude, safety, conduct, and professionalism.
  • Organizes, and assigns environmental workload and schedules.
  • Manages relations with management, internal staff, and other departments.
  • Pursues personal training and development opportunities directly related to the Environmental Program.
  • Develops and maintains records of work projects.
  • Purchases and oversees the maintenance of tools, equipment, and supplies.
  • Performs related and unrelated duties as assigned.
  • Complies with and enforces LMLC policies and procedures.
  • Combines hands on work with administrative duties.

  • Perform all duties and responsibilities in a timely and efficient manner in accordance with established Club policies, procedures, and standards of service to achieve the overall objectives of this position.

  • Must be able to work flexible work hours/schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays.
  • Long hours may be required due to unforeseen demands.

Experience/Education Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in an Environmental Science field is preferred.
  • Five+ years of work-related skill, knowledge, and experience.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to comfortably execute the required job tasks.
  • Ability to observe critically and evaluate findings.
  • State certified Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan Administer (BMP 201)
  • Ability to take appropriate action based on investigation reports.
  • Ability to interpret complex scientific and legal documents.
  • Proven experience using communication and organizational skills to accomplish goals.
  • Excellent knowledge of environmental protection and Best Management Practices
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory statute as it relates to environmental protections (i.e. Clean Water Act, Endangered Species Act, Clean Air Act)
  • Able to speak clearly and effectively with Members, Guests, Co-Workers, Vendors, and other Departments.
  • Able to write clearly and legibly.
  • Able to perform basic math calculations.
  • Able to solve basic problems and/or know when it is necessary to get assistance in problem solving.

Experience/Education Preferred

  • Solid understanding with computer modeling, digital mapping, geographic information system.
  • Knowledge of contaminants relative to impact on environmental quality.
  • Knowledge of the method and techniques of collecting and analyzing data.
  • Knowledge of state and federal laws, legal codes, precedents, government regulations, executive orders.
  • Solid knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.

    • have face-to-face discussions with individuals or teams;
    • may work exposed to sounds and noise levels that are distracting and uncomfortable without hearing protection;
    • be exact and accurate; and
    • work indoors in environmentally controlled conditions.
  • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
