Salary:

We are seeking a due diligence professional for our fast growing firm. In this role, you will support the firm’s due diligence activities as a key member of the investment manager research team. The main focus of the role will be conducting risk-based investment and operational due diligence on a variety of hedge funds and private equity funds, as well as specialized investment managers who invest the assets of ultra-high net worth investors across a wide spectrum of investment mandates. A key aspect of this role will be your ability to apply fundamental due diligence principals to a variety of applications, such as the diligence of investment programs ranging from large international banks to small RIAs / multi-family offices. These funds or investment managers span the globe. As a member of the due diligence team, you will work closely with other members of the Investments Team, as well as with the Legal & Compliance and Sales Teams. This role includes frequent presentations to an investment committee and interactions with executive management.

Responsibilities

  • Perform investment and operational due diligence assessments of fund managers and specialized investment managers involving analysis and assessment of prospective strategy, investment process, risk management practices, operational controls, and legal/regulatory matters.
  • Lead due diligence meetings with investment managers ranging from niche private markets strategies (private real estate, private credit, litigation finance, etc.) to diverse hedge fund strategies to long-only traditional asset class portfolios in both an SMA and commingled fund format.
  • Review materials received to prepare for fund manager interviews and meetings.
  • Learn insurance-specific requirements of managers and apply those requirements to all due diligence reviews.
  • Apply analytical skills to review investment managers against peers, benchmarks and existing investment offerings to contextualize diligence findings.
  • Provide ongoing education and updates to sales & marketing teams about industry and platform trends.
  • Create due diligence memos and updates and present recommendations to the Investment Committee.
  • Support initiatives designed to deliver information regarding Lombard’s platform and funds to internal and external partners. This may include drafting and maintaining fund summaries, participating in the development or enhancements of technology to collect and share information with third-party managers and clients.
  • Continue to enhance the investment research and due diligence function at Lombard International.


Desired Skills and Experience

  • Previous employment (5+ years) and relevant experience evaluating investment opportunities at a fund, investment consultant, or other institutional investor in a role where manager due diligence and research production was a primary component of workload.
  • Bachelor’s degree required. Progress towards CFA or CAIA a plus.
  • Highly motivated individual who has demonstrated success in prior work experience, and who is able to execute independently on assigned tasks.
  • Excellent organizational skills, ability to track multiple projects and handle multiple priorities
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, communication and presentation skills.
  • High degree of proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite programs.
  • Ability to professionally represent the firm.
  • Familiarity with alternative investments, asset classes and strategies.
  • Familiarity with insurance products and insurance licenses are a plus.
  • Must be amenable to travel for fund manager meetings (estimate 10% or approx. 5-10 trips per year).
  • Develop ideas of possible improvements to the diligence process.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative, team environment.
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and dynamically shifting priorities.
