Business Administrator

General Purpose
The role of the Business Administrator is to work with the staff, congregation, standing committees, boards, and ministry teams to administrate the operational process and business of the church. The Business Administrator guides, directs, and manages the critical functions of the church to meet the long-term goals of Executive Team and the Administrative Board.
Principal Focal
The Business Administrator will oversee the business of the church by helping to develop and implement the vision of Live Oak Church as a member of the Executive Team through a strategic planning process, maximizing the effectiveness of present programs and processes, developing and managing wise business practices, and overseeing the day to day management of the church.
Skills and requirements
Professing born again follower of Jesus Christ
Masters level degree preferred
A minimum of 10 years of ministerial experience
A minimum 5 years of supervisory experience in a similar environment
Working knowledge of computer systems and applications
Knowledge of organizational management - policies, procedures, and systems
Knowledge of business office processes, including generally accepted accounting principles
Ability to prepare effective and understandable documents for correspondence
Effective leadership and management skills
Employment Status
Full-time, minimum 40 hours per week average position, with benefits as set forth in the Live Oak Church Employee Handbook
The Business Administrator will adhere to the Live Oak Church Employee Handbook and all its appendices
The person to fill this position shall be approved by the Executive Team, HR Committee, and the Administrative Board
Working Relationships
Reports directly to the Senior Pastor
Spiritual Accountability from the Executive Pastor
Organizational accountability from the HR Committee
Serves as a member of the Executive Team
Supervise the Operations Staff
Regular duties
Collaborate with the Executive Team to guide, direct and manage the critical functions of the church to meet long-term goals
Attend and participates in all staff meetings each week
Host weekly Departmental Meeting
Attend all Standing Committee meetings as a non-voting member to report to the Executive Team the status of all areas of responsibility
Attend Administrative Board meetings as a full voting member
Serve as the Administrative Board Secretary
Monitor the performance of personnel and coordinate annual job performance evaluations
Maintain thorough and complete personnel files
Work with staff to provide timely and accurate communication with the congregation
Work with the Financial Oversight Committee to lead staff in preparing and developing an annual church budget designed to accomplish the strategic goals of the church
Provide leadership to and supervise the Operations Staff
Coach the operations staff to ensure continual growth and high levels of proficiency
Assist Operations Staff in goal-setting, planning, prioritizing, and implementation
Occasional duties
Develop, review, and revise employment policies and procedures
Ensure appropriate job descriptions exist for each staff position
On-board new employees
Review, renegotiate, and oversee rental and contractual agreements on behalf of the Live Oak Church
Oversee all renovation and construction projects, and explore building needs to facilitate new accommodations
Coordinates the work of the staff to support network infrastructure, security systems, and other technology
Facilitate any other responsibilities that may arise as deemed necessary by the Executive Team
Job Performance Reviews
An annual performance review will be conducted by the Executive Team and a report will be presented to the HR Committee for review
Compensation and bonuses that may be awarded are determined by the HR Committee
