Job Description

Basic Purpose and Scope:

This position partners with management to establish production and quality control standards, assists in developing budgets and cost controls and obtains data regarding types, quantities, specifications and delivery dates of product

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  1. Coordinate formulation activities with procurement, maintenance, and quality control activities to obtain optimum production and utilization of human resources, machines, and equipment - 50%
  2. Review and analyze production, quality control, maintenance, and operational reports to determine causes of nonconformity with product specifications and operating or production problems - 25%
  3. Develop and implement operating methods and procedures designed to eliminate operating problems and improve product quality - 25%
  4. Interview, hire, and train employees - Ongoing
  5. Manage safety programs including adherence to food safety guidelines - Ongoing
  6. Revise production schedules and priorities as result of equipment failure or operating problems - Ongoing
  7. Consult with engineering personnel relative to modification of machines and equipment in order to improve production and quality of products - Ongoing
  8. Supervise shift Coordinators of formulation departments - Ongoing
  9. Enforce safety regulations - Ongoing
  10. Establish or adjust work procedures to meet production schedules - Ongoing
  11. Recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product - Ongoing
  12. Suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, or work crew - Ongoing
  13. Analyze and resolve work problems or assist workers in solving work problems - Ongoing
  14. Confer with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments - Ongoing
  15. Analyze and resolve personnel and disciplinary issues with employees - Ongoing
  16. Keep written documentation regarding all personnel and disciplinary issues - Ongoing
  17. Conduct performance evaluations for all employees a minimum of once annually - Ongoing
  18. Perform activities of workers supervised - Ongoing
  19. Responsibility to adhere to Food Safety policies and report food safety and quality concerns to their supervisor - Ongoing
  20. Other activities and duties as assigned - Ongoing

  1. Education: Associate degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted
  2. Experience: Trained and experienced in formulating recipes and operating formulating machinery preferred
  3. Experience: Minimum of two years of leadership experience
  4. Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  5. Write routine reports and correspondence
  6. Speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization
  7. Compute basic mathematical calculations, rate, ratio, and percent and draw and interpret bar graphs
  8. Ability to read, comprehend instructions, and write correspondence
  9. Capable of presenting information in one-on-one and group situations to other employees in the organization
  10. Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations
  11. Read and interpret Machinery / SOP manuals
  12. Ability to multi-task, working in fast-paced environment
  13. Must have strong verbal and written communications skills with ability to express ideas effectively and efficiently
  14. Must have excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
  15. Ability to establish & maintain effective working relationships with all contacts inside and outside of the company
  16. Ability to meet attendance requirements

Travel Requirements

  1. Travel up to 1-5% of the time should be expected.

Work Environment

Frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and moving mechanical parts

Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, risk of electrical shock, and vibration

The noise level in the work environment is usually loud and wet

Exposure to fluorescent lights

Personal protective equipment required: Rain suits, gloves, goggles, glasses, face shield, hearing protection, and any other PPE as deemed necessary to perform the job safely
