Position Title: Bilingual Community Training Specialist
Status:  Full-Time/Non-Exempt (40 hours/week)

Location: Remote within Oregon, must be able to deliver training across Oregon
Reports To:  Community Training Manager

Compensation: $46,000-$56,000plus full Medical, Dental, Vision Insurance. Matching 401k, professional development funds, and a free fitbit.

We offer help and hope to individuals and communities and promote mental health for all. Our work addresses a spectrum of needs that include intervention, prevention, and advocacy. We educate, train, and advocate to prevent issues of substance abuse, mental illness, and thoughts of suicide from reaching crisis levels. But when a crisis arises or support is needed, we are available 24/7/365 to intervene with personalized help.

Bilingual Community Training Specialist Position Description: The Bilingual Community Training Specialist is part of the Culturally Responsive Latinx Mental Health Training Program, which is a grassroots effort to address barriers to care through providing Spanish-language trainings such as MHFA (Mental Health First Aid), YMHFA (Youth Mental Health First Aid), and QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer) training with a focus on improved cultural responsiveness, neighborhood engagement, and resource referrals. The program will train at least 225 community members and service providers in the first year. The Bilingual Community Training Specialist will build additional training capacity and in response to needs identified by Oregon’s existing Latinx mental health trainers, the program will also include monthly, web-based Spanish-language learning collaboratives for MHFA and QPR trainers across the state.

Bilingual Community Training Specialist Responsibilities:

  • Recruit and register individuals statewide to be trained in Spanish language MHFA and/or QPR.
  • Generate interest in QPR and MHFA in Spanish speaking communities through collaboration with the Communications department and community partners.
  • Track participant recruitment and attendance to ensure program achieves geographical diversity and reaches target population.
  • Maintain accurate training records.
  • Complete all monthly, quarterly and annual program reports and program deliverables as outlined in contract.
  • Build and maintain partnerships with community mental health agencies and education service districts across the state to recruit participants and secure training space in target locations.
  • In collaboration with Program Evaluator and Communications department, identify key regions for targeted recruitment and to determine training locations.
  • In coordination with community partners, participate in and facilitate monthly web-based learning collaborative meetings in Spanish with Spanish-speaking MHFA and QPR trainers across Oregon.
  • Review and revise training curricula as appropriate to ensure culturally responsive content and delivery.
  • Collaborate with training and prevention staff to develop sector-specific training content as needed for community training program.

Bilingual Community Training Specialist Qualifications:

  • Bilingual Spanish/English fluency (speaking, reading, writing).
  • Experience providing mental health services and/or training in Spanish.
  • Experience and familiarity with the Latinx community.
  • Master’s degree in Social Work, Mental Health, Family Therapy, or similar discipline preferred. A Bachelor’s degree in a related behavioral health field plus advanced clinical skills gained through work experience in lieu of a graduate degree may be considered.
  • Experience planning, organizing, and delivering evidenced-based curriculum.
  • Experience in crisis de-escalation and/or suicide prevention preferred.
  • Certified, experienced MHFA trainer preferred or ability to complete MHFA training for trainers within one month of hire.

Bilingual Community Training Specialist Skills and requirements:

  • Ability to coordinate large, diverse groups of people.
  • Demonstrated success in planning, coordinating, and implementing complex projects.
  • Proficiency with web-based communication and/or education platforms.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be comfortable working in a remote environment, including utilizing web-based platforms to deliver training in a virtual setting

Amount of travel and any other special conditions or requirements:

  • May require working occasional evenings and weekends to facilitate training needs.
  • Will require occasional travel to deliver training across geographical regions in Oregon.
  • This is a hybrid remote/in-person position within the state of Oregon
