The Registered Nurse is responsible for providing professional nursing care, using the nursing process, to patients within the treatment milieu (child, adolescent, adult, and geriatric), according to the Standards of Nursing Practice and Care. The Registered Nurse assists in patient nursing care to meet the spiritual, emotional, and physiological need of patients served. This position involves the administration of medications and treatment in accordance with physician orders and established nursing policies and procedures.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Graduate of an approved school of nursing. Current RN licensure or work permit in the state of Kentucky. This position requires medium skill level in Math and Language and a high level in reason. No experience is required; however, psychiatric nursing is preferred.
Must possess knowledge of developmental stages of children, adolescents, geriatrics, and adults, and the social, cultural, and environmental influences on both patient and family members.
Must have knowledge of family dynamics, adaptive/maladaptive coping skills that families use, parenting skills, and ability to work with family systems in effort to resolve conflicts.
Must have basis understanding of chemically dependent families and sources available in communities to provide support to the patient and family.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions in written, oral and diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in many different situations.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Must be able to express or exchange ideas by means of spoken and written word.

This position will include moderately strenuous work requiring the ability to lift and/or carry objects weighing up to 25 pounds. An employee must have sufficient strengths and agility to participate in psychiatric crisis requiring therapeutic physical restraint of patient who have lost self-control. Occasional stooping, kneeling, and reaching are required.
Must be able to accurately perceive the nature and quality of sound and perceive visual impressions related to shape, size, distance, motion and have near normal visual acuity and color perception. The job requires 10% sitting and 90% standing or walking.
The employee may participate in physical restraint of patients.
