Compensation: $85,500 to $115,000 (DOE)
The Lightning team works with forward-thinking fleets to engineer, deliver, and manage full transportation electrification solutions, including vehicles, charging, data analysis, and energy infrastructure.
Lightning eMotors designs and manufactures zero-emission all-electric medium- and heavy-duty vehicles, including delivery trucks, shuttle buses, passenger vans, chassis-cab models, and city transit buses. The Production Operations Manager is responsible for leading our production areas and coordinating with both the supply chain and production planning teams to meet expected demand. This role oversees all aspects of production and operations, including developing the systems, processes and team required to plan and execute against customer demand.
Develop and manage the production process, ensuring it aligns with supply chain and production schedules as well as the requirements of forecasts and customer orders
Develop headcount planning methods and strategies, ensuring all staffing requirements are planned, trained, and able to build to the schedule, safety, cost, and volumes
Deploy and maintain production schedules for all areas of production ensuring that daily production volumes are met; ensure team has the tools, resources, and material needed to meet daily production targets
Develop systems for effectively managing production schedule, communicating expectations to all levels of the organization, and driving work on the production line
Track, report, and help resolve all issues blocking on-time delivery; work with Technical Account Manager team to communicate accurate delivery schedules to customers
Serve as point person for key escalation concerns related to on-time deliveries and customer delivery schedule issues
Work collaboratively with all departments to define, develop, and run a highly scalable planning system that ensures on-time delivery and meets financial objectives
Implement, champion, and sustain lean principles throughout the organization; including utilizing poke yoke practices to solve quality and efficiency topics
Drive down costs from production inefficiencies related to scrap or the underutilization of staff or equipment; assist with identifying and implement both labor and process improvements
Coordinate with quality and engineering on the development and implementation of advanced manufacturing and quality systems
Participate in sales and operations planning process to define future plans and ensure team carries through
Perform production planning and work with the team to identify and implement an MES system, when needed

What we require:
Bachelors degree in Business, Industrial Management, Engineering, or related field; or equivalent experience in a directly related role
3 years of experience in automotive production operations
3+ years of experience in production or supply management, including material management, procurement, manufacturing processes, quality processes, and/or logistics
At least 2 years of experience with advanced manufacturing systems and processes (MES, ERP, automation, etc.)
Demonstrated knowledge of lean manufacturing principles
Demonstrated experience integrating design, sourcing, planning, manufacturing, and logistics milestones into total product life cycle
Experience monitoring, metrics collection and reporting
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
What we prefer:
5+ years of experience in automotive production operations
Previous experience as an engineer is highly desired
Six sigma certification
Direct experience using Netsuite for MRP and production planning
Direct experience driving engineering change management
Familiar with the automotive vehicle development process
