FULL TIME TRUCK/VAN DELIVERY DRIVER

Lightbulb Grip and Electric Co New York, NY

  • Expired: 26 days ago. Applications are no longer accepted.
Job Description

WHO IS LIGHTBULB RENTALS?

Lightbulb Rentals is a premier equipment rental house for the TV and Film industry in Brooklyn, NY. We rent a wide variety of hardware that is used to make movies and TV shows. Lighting, rigging, production supplies (tables, chairs, coolers, heaters), and beyond. Our shop is a tight team, efficient, nimble, and 100% paperless.

WHO ARE WE HIRING?

We are hiring a Full-Time Truck/Van Delivery Driver who can do deliveries, pickups, and run errands (such as picking up new hardware from manufacturers). On days when there are no deliveries, the driver will become additional warehouse staff for checking orders in and out, equipment inspection, repair and maintenance, and other warehouse-related tasks as needed. Our business is seasonal, so there may be periods of time where warehouse work is a larger portion of the daily tasks than the driving work.

Employees in this role should have great customer service skills and careful attention to detail. We are looking for someone technology-friendly with enthusiasm to learn new skills and a calm demeanor.

WHAT DOES A FILM EQUIPMENT DELIVERY LOOK LIKE?

Deliveries and pickups range in size depending on the needs of our clients. Gear packages can be just a few items or multiple hampers full of professional lighting equipment. Efficiently packing a mix of bulky and delicate items, adhering to safe driving/unloading practices, and clearly communicating with customers are essential aspects of the delivery services we offer.

HOURS, SALARY, AND BENEFITS:

The Full-Time position is Mon-Fri 9am-5pm, and is a salaried position with a starting salary range between $35,000-45,000/yr depending on skills and experience. We are looking for an employee who wants consistent warehouse and driving work, and is interested in a position for 2 yrs or longer. There will be times when deliveries have to happen outside 9-5 (1-3 times per week), and those hours are paid an overtime bonus.

The position also offers paid time off (roughly 2 weeks per year), performance-based bonuses and raises, paid family leave, and health insurance cost reimbursement (we are not yet large enough to offer our own insurance plan, but we will reimburse a Healthcare Marketplace Plan).

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Employee must maintain a current, unexpired Drivers License from a US State or Territory with a clean driving record for the length of employment.

  • Employee will safely drive a Cargo Van, 14’ Truck or 20’ Truck with knowledge of road restrictions and hazards in the NYC area.

  • Employee must load and unload trucks safely, including strapping, load balancing, and lift gate operations.

  • Employee must be confident in providing basic customer service to walk-in clients and delivery clients and welcoming them to the warehouse.

  • Within 2 months, employee must be able to efficiently collect, barcode-scan, and prep orders with accuracy and high attention to detail, as well as checking them back into the warehouse after clients return.

  • Employee may be asked to diagnose, troubleshoot, and maintain various issues with light equipment, and other rental items under advisement and guidance from Warehouse Manager.

SKILLS:

  • Ability to drive Cargo Vans and 14-20’ box trucks (No CDL required)

  • Ability to navigate computer interfaces to check work calendar, use our payroll application, and interface with our rental management & inventory software

  • Strong time management skills

  • Ability to dynamically adjust personal workflow easily, depending on shifting workload expectations

  • Basic Customer service skills and demeanor to greet customers when necessary

  • Strong and consistent attention to detail for quality control and checking inventory

  • Must be able to lift 50lbs overhead, to lift inventory from floor to waist height, travel up and down stairs by foot, and must be able to push and pull equipment carts between 25-300lbs for 150 feet.

  • Must be able to work in all weather environments

  • Must be able to complete physical labor for consistent 8-hour shifts (with lunch breaks) on a consistent 5-day-per-week schedule.

  • Basic knowledge of film equipment is preferred, but not required

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • Lightbulb does not discriminate in employment applications and encourages applications from people of all walks of life who are physically capable of completing a rigorous warehouse position. Applications from applicants with a criminal history are given equal weight and consideration.

WHAT YOU SHOULD SUBMIT TO APPLY:
