Avionics Technician/Hangar Mechanic

The Avionics Technician/Hangar Mechanic will provide onsite avionics and maintenance support for Life Flight Network (LFN) fixed-wing and rotor-wing aircraft. This position is responsible for performing aviation avionics and maintenance activities, including assisting in planning, evaluating, developing, implementing and maintaining services in compliance with LFN's FAA Part 135 Air Carrier Certificate.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Completion of two years of an Aviation Science trade or vocational school, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Three years in the role of an Avionics technician
  • Airframe license or willing to obtain one within 6 months
  • Inspection Authorization Certification preferred
  • Three years of FAR 135/145 maintenance experience
  • Three years' experience working for an EMS helicopter program preferred
  • Maintenance experience on Pilatus, CJ4, EC135, B407, B429, AW119, and AW109 preferred
  • Must have a thorough knowledge of aircraft wiring/electrical modifications and repair procedures and Federal Aviation Regulations
  • Experience with wiring removal, installation procedures and connector terminations
  • Prior experience utilizing blueprints, schematics, technical manuals, and other electrical drawings
  • Ability to test and troubleshoot electrical systems
  • Radio programming and radio troubleshooting experience specifically with Technisonic radios
  • Knowledge and experience maintaining hand tools related to aircraft electrical work
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Analytical abilities sufficient to handle complex technical and administrative issues
  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with internal and external customers
  • Strong work ethic with team-oriented approach
  • Overtime, evenings, and weekend work as required
  • Effective communication skills both verbally and written
  • Superior customer service skills and the ability to communicate effectively at all levels within the organization
  • Able to take initiative to create, implement and improve procedures
  • Must pass background check and pre-employment DOT drug test
  • Travel by personal or company vehicle throughout LFN's service area is required. Must possess a valid Driver's license and automobile in good repair. Must provide proof of auto insurance and meet Driver's Policy requirements

GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Inspect and repair aircraft parts, components, and systems
  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on aircraft, aircraft systems and parts for base operations
  • Update and maintain maintenance manuals, service bulletins, parts books, regulatory updates, and other technical directives
  • Assist in coordinating, ordering, shipping, receiving of parts, supplies, tools, and warranty claims parts
  • Clean and maintain interior and exterior of aircraft
  • Assist in coordination of aircraft maintenance schedules
  • Maintain upkeep of work area, materials and tools
  • Prepare and maintain documentation related to work activities in accordance with regulations and policy
  • Ensure all maintenance is accomplished and documented correctly
  • Analyze and troubleshoot technical/inspection issues, providing guidance and resolution of problems
  • Apply mathematical and analytical skills to duties
  • Awareness and support of LFN goals through participation in continuous quality management
  • Other duties as required

  • Ensure adherence to LFN safety and risk management culture as outlined in Safety and Risk Management Agreement, SMS, and related policies
  • Preserve safety and risk management culture and rules
  • Report all concerns related to safety and risk management immediately, working with Director of Safety and Risk Management, Director of Quality Management and others as needed
  • Be knowledgeable regarding all safety and risk management policies and procedures; be an agent for communicating safety and risk management information
